It's not waking the computer or display from sleep...

I usually disable sleep features.

With logmein, to wakeup from sleep, you would need another computer on the network with Logmein. Then it can do wonderful things, like power the computer on, wake it up, etc. Awesome for supporting networks, but somewhat limited for home use.

So in effect, we would need to bring our 13" MacBook Pro to wake up the MacPro, Lol!

This is just too limited to be of any real use for us, darn!

Like meanee, I just leave my computer on with sleep disabled. Simplest solution.

Also, Splashtop is not that hard to set up for 3G if you've ever had to set up your home network for IRC, BitTorrent, etc. It's just basic port forwarding. If you haven't ever then I guess it can seem difficult. When I got the app, I just googled instructions and had it set up in under five minutes.

Also, worth every cent of the measly $2 I spent (it was on sale). I spent forever agonizing over whether to spend $30 on LogMeIn and I'm glad I waited cause while LogMeIn has some nice extra features, from what I have researched, they aren't worth $28 more, especially considering Splashtop works quite excellently as is. I use it all the time at work to control my home downloads and also to grab files that I forgot (I use Dropbox) and to do various tasks that I can't on my work computer (i.e. Create PDF out of TIF files, simple Photoshop stuff, maybe handle some video compression, etc). It's also pretty amazing how well the video and audio work - I can basically access my entire music collection using it. Hd video isn't flawless motionwise but it's closer than you might expect, the video quality looks very good and it is watchable over wifi. 3G is a LOT slower than wifi use but that's more the fault of the connection than the app.

Splashtop

I purchased this app for my Ipad and I absolutely love it. It has allowed me to view all portions of Infinite Campus Gradebook, and I couldn't do this before since it requires Java/Flash to work. I was in our school library for a meeting yesterday and launched this app. I connected to my desk top pc and opened Microsoft Word. I took notes on the Ipad, and when I got back to my classroom, Microsoft Word was pulled up with my notes saved. I can now connect to my pc and use all java sites with my ipad. I also use my ipad and splashtop to connect to my projector. I have my pc on my Ipad screen and I'm able to use it as a mobile whiteboard for the students to view. I have also installed this app on my iphone and this allows my phone to navigate my pc as well as my projector. I love, love, love this app, and it has worked flawlessly for me.
