I JUST installed my IS yesterday. It was torture. The front was easy. Went on just as the instructions said it would. But the back is a different story.

I think with either of the sides, the trick is in how much solution you use. (Don't use a lot)

The small corners do not stick immediately and need to dry for a few minutes. Don't forget this. Just put the phone down and walk away. Don't torture youself like I did wondering why they won't stick.

My girlfriend, took it out of my hands and made me walk away from it. So I did, when I came back to it in about 10 minutes everything stuck perfectly. There might be a few bubbles that need worked out but other than that it was good.

***You will never get a "perfect" fit, i.e. no lint, no bubbles...etc. I have a minor bubble and a microscopic peice of lint that is barely visible with the naked eye. But, it you want as close to perfect as you can, take it to a kiosk, if you have one within a 60 mile drive.

Hmm... mine is flawless. I had the Kiosk Trainer/Manager install mine outside the Apple Store. Dude worked it like magic. Worth every penny.

I guess things here in Portland, OR are more high tech than most places in the US. :apple:

I haven't seen it done via a kiosk, but, they are as close to perfect as it comes. And I would agree, drive the extra distance to get it done professionally.

Heya Dragon_

I am going to post a picture of my application. I am just going to show 2 pictures, one of a corner, and then one of the back piece to show the discoloration from my holder, which I had to crop the photo to fit in this message. As far as applying the back and corners, again, use the least amount of that spray, and a hair dryer with a low setting is a great help. Also, someone mentioned to walk away for a bit, and that is indeed great advice, especially if you are getting frustrated. As far as the discoloration of the back piece, it is not the best picture, but if you look above the apple, I think you can see it. It goes all the way down the phone. ZAGG said they would replace the piece, but I am sure if I put a new one on and use the same case the same thing will happen again. Here is the email reply I got from ZAGG yesterday:

"Hello David,

Thank you for contacting ZAGG, home of the invisibleSHIELD! My name is Stephen and I appreciate the opportunity to assist you.

Yes, we have had alot of customers let us know about the discoloration of their invisibleSHIELD by either a holster, holder or case. Our product was meant to be the only protection and anything outside (i.e. holster, holder, case, etc) might cause a discoloration to the invisibleSHIELD. We would recommend a replacement if that is what you would like.

If you have any other questions, we will be more than happy to answer them for you.

Thank you for choosing the invisibleSHIELD. We appreciate your business!

All the best,

STEPHEN N."

So, I guess I'll have to figure something else out as far as a holder, as it is impossible to hold an iphone in a speedo (just kidding).

Hope this helps,
Dave

Dave,

Try taking rubbing alcohol to the ZAGG and seeing if that black color will run off. I got the same type of thing using a white in-case slider and Leather folio but the "ink" came off very quickly using alcohol.

Let us know if that makes any difference.

Good luck!

Hi,
Can check if we can return the invisibleshield if its not affix to the iphone yet, since holster and casing might cause discolorization. More than likely we will put the iPhone in a case isn't it?

The IS was redesign after it's initial release. I tried the first rev and had a lot of problems with the corners not sticking. I called ZAGG and got a free replacement (they even covered the shipping w/o me asking). The customer support was very friendly and understanding of my problems. The new design is a lot better and comes with a much larger vile of the the spray solution. The back and corners were easy to do and look much better. The new version also covers much more of the chrome. I wish somebody near me had a BG to compare it with, but as it stands, I am completely satisfied with my IS.

Pared-

Tried alcohol, bleach, and even a bit of jet fuel, which is basically kerosene. It is actually a discoloration of the material. I'll just put a new one on and try a different holder. Thanks for the advice though!

Dave

Sorry friend, not even close.

Dave

It was an actual BG kiosk. They had big BG banners and two plasma tvs playing the video where it shows a phone with it and a phone without BG in a series of test. Very professional looking. cost me 25 a phone. But it was worth every penny. You cant even tell its on there if you didnt know it. The screen protector is alot smoother than the Invis Shield. I had just put my wifes invis shield on the night before and when i saw the booth i ripped it off and threw it in the trash. :D

That's EXACTLY what I'm looking for! I would think in a big city like New York City I'd be able to find on easily but I've had no luck! Does anyone know of any "kiosks" in the NYC/North Jersey area? Is there a way you can search for the locations online?

Thanks.

I came across a kiosk by accident today while hunting for sneakers. Decided to do it after looking at someone else who just got theirs done. I had been using the Neo case with the anti-glare film but decided to go for it. $21.17 with tax and the dude put it on flawlessly. So far, pretty impressed.

I originally installed Zagg on mine, but wasn't crazy about that "orange peel effect," so I ordered a BG. I'm just picky like that I guess. Both were difficult to install. I kept my BG and have been pleased with it ever since after having managed to get it on nearly perfect. I have dealt with customer service for both Zagg and BG and both have been very helpful and responsive. BG mailed me a new front AND back shield for free when I called telling them i was having trouble. I thought that was pretty awesome. They even helped me find a store nearby that installs BG, but I ended up doing it myself. I think you will be happy with either one. It wouldn't have been the end of the world if I had kept the Zagg on there.

What is this "orange peel" effect everyone speaks of? Does it occur on the FRONT or BACK of the shield? I ask this because I'm considering having the back professionally installed, and then using SGP Anti-Fingerprint shield for the front...

orange peel effect we talk about is those wrinkles appearing on the shield, i guess it occurs on humidity and temperature and stuff since those IS and BG shield is sort of rubber-like.
i think it is ok for the back, cuz it is not really THAT noticeable, but on the front, if it occurs on LCD, it is disturbing. nobody wants to see wavy screen.

I have the Power Crystal on my front LCD. I'm just looking for a clear backing. I'm considering switching to the SGP Anti-Fingerprint film for my front but I'm still lost on what I should get for the backing... Do you think I should get IS professionally installed just on the back and do Anti-Fingerprint film on the front?

I have it and it's great

I work at Best Buy and our Best Buy Mobile Mgr installed it for me and it is awesome. You have to get this. I got mine for an amazing price.:)

I tried the IS on my 3G and I took it off because I didn't like the orange peel look it had.
I got a full body protector from www.shieldskins.com the other day. it is like the IS but it has alot less orange peel. It is working really well.
To get the corners for the back on I used very little spray and I let the corners dry out for about 15 min. Then I stuck them down with the palm of my hand for a minute or two each. They stuck down perfect.
