But, I think, Applecare doesn’t protect against fine scratches only breakage.

Fine scratches don't typically bother me if I can't see them unless I look closely, but if they did start bothering me then, well, it would just be too too bad if I let my reckless nephew borrow my iPad for a little while :D

I think putting a screen protector on an iPad, is like putting a transparent cover on your couch, no matter how you think about it, it will still look like a plastic couch cover :)

I paid close to 4000€ for my armchair, for the design + ""premium"" leather.
I don't "protect" it, cause A) i like to looks of it B) I like the feel of the leather and C) I don't carry the armchair around in my backpack

I do protect my 12.9 ipad Pro however:
A) It doesn't change the looks of the ipad any way whatsoever if applied correctly
B) It doesn't change the feel of the iPad Pro anyway. Arguably, it improves it because once the oleophobic coating is gone, swap out the screen protector and good as new again.

Yes. When I just using the iPad in tablet mode I have nothing attached. I use the Magic Keyboard when I want a more laptop setup and the smart folio if I’m going to be watching videos and want the iPad to prop itself up. Otherwise I use the device standalone.

Never put a screen protector on an iPad, wish I had now 12.9 256GB 5G, slipped off my laptop stand, landed face down, soon as I get my AppleCare express replacement I’ll be putting a tempered glass screen protector on it before I switch it on.
This is why I chose the Logitech case over the Apple Keyboard case. I’d rather have a nice cushiony case than a screen protector. These ipad Pro’s cost way too much to repair.

Kinda ironic that it was in the Logitech combo when it fell 😂

Naked screen, preordered the zugu case and will be the only protection for it

I’ve just got my iPad Pro 12.9 m1. It’s wonderful, but I’m feeling nervous because ...

I was advised by an Apple tech guy not to put a screen protecter on it. I have always put protectors on my iPads, so feeling nervous as this iPad was so expensive and I want to use the Apple Pencil with it.

i‘d love to hear from people who are not using protectors, and who haven’t had any scratches from using the Apple Pencil for a long time.

‘’I am loving using it naked, feels more responsive than with a glass protector and much less reflective too.

I can totally understand the argument of why buy this beautiful screen and then cover it with lower quality glass or plastic?

But I am anxious about scratching, I could not afford to replace the screen.
you should get a light protecter screen

hell no. theres nothing wrong with using a glass screen protector. i have one installed my 11inch pro and apple pencil works smooth as butter. the only downside is the amount of reflection off the screen, but i keep my stuff protected always.

I never use a screen protector but I always keep my iPad in a folio case or the magic keyboard. I buy cheap 3rd party folio cases because the material Apple uses goes weird after a while, like wrinkly where you hold it. There are also many more colour options with 3rd party cases.

I always invest in Applecare+ for all my Apple devices. I don't think AC+ is expensive at all for the benefits they offer, and most importantly is the peace of mind that my devices are protected. That being said, I don't use my iPad pro naked. I have the Apple iPad folio, and also a paperlike screen protector.

I like the Apple iPad folio because it gives the iPad Pro more of a grip when I'm carrying it around. It will fold into different positions so it can stand while watching movies or reading. I don't see it much as protection because I don't think my iPad screen may survive if I drop it, but I like it for the other benefits I just mentioned.

I also have a paper-like protector because it feels better while taking notes. Again, I don't have it on my iPad as protection for the screen. It's just easier to take notes with a screen protector on it.

Said this in a previous post but the reason I put a matte screen protector on was because on a naked screen a finger print/mark would make the pen slow down slightly, this was noticeable when doing drawings and was annoying. I found myself cleaning the screen a lot just so the resistance across the screen was uniform. The matte screen protector completely solved that.

My kids did scratch my first iPad but I could solve that by not letting them use this one!!

It broke my heart to put a screen protector on my iPad but after dropping my iphone the other day and its screen being saved by the ESR glass, I couldn’t NOT do it. I’m not used to holding iPads so I’m just afraid of dropping it and kissing the screen goodbye. I’d go the Apple Care route but I don’t plan on upgrading this device for many moons so once the two years are up…. What then? As much as it pains me I just can’t take that risk.

I find it strange that I’m so concerned about this screen but I got along just fine with my 2013 retina burned MacBook Pro… I don’t care about micro scratches so much (if they’re hardly noticeable) but the screen getting smashed matters.

When an iPad costs over $1k it makes sense to protect it at some capacity.

Folio case and free balling from time to time, there Is no wrong way, just make sure you don’t drop it 😜

I use a screen protector on my iPad and iPhone. They don’t seem to make any difference to the performance of the displays and provide some peace of mind at very little cost.👍
