I have a Galaxy Nexus and an iPad 2. I'm very pleased with the iOS/Android combo. If you're going to get one of each I would get an Android phone and an iPad. iOS has a much better selection of tablet apps.

I actually have two Verizon Galaxy Nexii (I only use one; the other is a backup, received as gifts), and I love the size of the phone and 4G. I tether to my iPad so I don't have to add a device to the Share Everything Plan and buy a 4G iPad.

I use Gmail and Google Calendar for my syncing needs anyways, and iCloud works great for backing up photos (which Dropbox does as well, for redundancy) and full device backups.

The only things I wish synced between my phone and iPad are iMessages, Reminders, and Notes. That would be excellent!

However, the iPhone's simple interface and effortless sync are making me contemplate a switch to iPhone when the next one comes out. It feels like such a breath of fresh air to use, and its right to the point. As long as the next iPhone has 4G and a sufficiently large screen, it will be my next phone purchase this fall.

The iPhone isn't for everyone, and I can understand that. The best thing about Android is customizability. I use Launcher 7 on mine to emulate WP7's Metro interface, which I consider superior to stock ICS for my needs. I also use a third party keyboard and other apps Apple doesn't allow (not widgets though).

In the end, you have to decide what's right for you.

I don't use an Android phone, but I do have a Windows Phone that I use in conjunction with my iPad 3. I have to say I don't miss my iPhone very much at all. My iPad gives me my iOS fix while my Windows Phone allows me to enjoy the beautiful metro interface.

I have a MBA, an iPad, and a GS2 and it's a great experience! It's nice to be multi-platform. I say go for it!

I too carry an Android phone while I use an iPad and MBA. I find the phone to be more convenient for checking stuff out quickly on the go through widgets on the home screen, and for times when I can actually sit and read or do stuff, I go to the iPad.

Does AT&T offer free tethering with their android phones?

They do not. It is an extra add-on to your data package that you have to pay separately for (on an individual plan).

Hopefully they follow along with Verizon after today's FCC ruling regarding tethering packages on tiered data plans.

I have an iPhone 4S, retina iPad and Nexus 7. I figured I'd try Android on a tablet before taking the plunge and being locked into a mobile contract. I really like android but iOS is just so well put together.

Not sure if I'd go to a fulltime Android phone, but I will say the new iPhone NEEDS a bigger screen!

Thanks! Thats good to know. I have at&t and tethering would be a big reason for me buying android but i dont want to have to pay more for it.

Galaxy S3 (International) + iPad2. Always had an iPhone, Mac but now have PC, Android phone. iPad is great for viewing movies and playing games etc, but I also have the portability of the S3 whilst out and about. Also, as others have said, I use it to tether the iPad as well. Very happy with this combo. I do miss my iPhone sometimes due to syncing, iCloud etc. but once I got a bigger screen on my phone, I couldn't go back. Also, S3 came with 50g free storage for 2yrs which is great.

Another android phone, iPad and MBA owner.

Until I can have proper widgets and customisable keyboards on the iPhone I will probably stay that way.

That said I've had a few issues with my current phone (SGS2) and my previous nexus one with android updates banjaxing my GPS. I've just had an update which looks to have fixed it again but these sort of things do annoy me!

Is that really an ISSUE? Would you rather have only one car manufacturer to buy from with only one model with one engine in your choice of only black or white?

Just like Android phones there are many vehicles and manufacturers to choose from of which some models are good and some models are bad. You just need to do your research on what is best for you.

The paradox of choice suggests that the more choices of phones there are, the greater the chance of snagging a model that is unsuitable for your needs. You can't really go wrong with the iPhone, since the only choice is how much storage to go.

I like em all
Galaxy S2
iPad 3
Windows PC (gaming)
MB Air

Getting the best of all worlds :)

That goes back to my original comment. If you can't research and decide on a silly cell phone than how can you choose a vehicle manufacturer, model and color, or the color to paint your room or what type of tomato to buy in the supermarket.

From your twisted logic paint should only come in two colors, cars only from 1 manufacturer, 1 model and a choice of only 2 colors because (as you wrote): "the more choices of phones <or vehicles, paint, types of canned soup, varieties of tomatoes, etc> there are, the greater the chance of snagging a model that is unsuitable for your needs." That's a pretty lousy way to go through life..... with tunnel vision and lack of the will to look on the other side of the forest for other options.

You will have a better experience with ios iPhone IPad Mac.
Not "you WILL have" but "you MAY have" or even "you PROBABLY will." There are many people who like other things besides Apple.

Exactly :) My Games need Windows and the Windows machine is cheaper. I like the customization with android. But it's always nice to hear general "blabla" why a different setup HAS to be better. You've nailed it TB!

I take my Air and iPad with me. Lately the ai stays at home though. I like the extra capacity, typing and working is easier on it. But if I know all I want to do is surfing ...

Possible GS3 or One X purchase

I have the New iPad, Macbook aluminum and every iPhone except for the 3Gs but am now considering going android for the screen size. My only gripe about the android is web browsing.

In the iPhone double tapping in a text area perfectly aligns to the sides of the screen however, in my experience with android it does not as it overlaps to the left and right side of the screen. Am i doing something wrong? Can you guys who switched from iPhone to android chime in?

If I can get over that I'll probably end up with either the GS3 or One X and tether it with my New iPad.

TIA!

I have a DroidX and an iPad2. I really need the larger screen of the DroidX instead of the smaller iPhone's. I'm due for an upgrade with Verizon. I will get the Droid Razr Maxx. Several people I know have that phone and I've played with it and really want that next.
