Scarpad you have a really messy desk 😉

Hide those cables man!!

Not really too many places they can go on that desk my problem is and always been too much stuff too little desk.

As for the xbox I have it hooked into composite until my Vdigi Box comes in and I'm surprised it looks as good as it does, but I definately would not want to continue to use it that way. I think it'll look pretty swwt once I can run the progressive output

Just got mine!

I just picked up one of these monitors on eBay for $600 shipped. It's my first LCD, and it seems great to me. No backlight issues, no dead pixels. It is rather bright, but I will adjust as a previous poster said. For now it's hooked up to my Quicksilver G4, but it will be hooked up to my brand spanking new 15" powerbook that was delivered today and is home waiting for me!!!

One question though, is there any way to hook up speakers to the monitor, aside from the ugly soundbar?

I couldn't pass up this incredible offer in case anyone is interested. I just ordered the 2005FPW for $486.75 with free shipping. 🙂 Dell has a sale for 25% off and I used a $75 off coupon which was posted on another thread here. The coupon code is ?LBP9VN9BDDFT2. I think both of these offers may expire on March 3rd so If you want one you'll need to hurry.

I use it with my Mac mini on DVI, my PC on analog, xbox on composite, and PS2 on s-video. Here is a pic of me playing San Andreas on s-video. It looks beautiful in widescreen. Games look better than going through my All In Wonder video card, its also better than my 13 inch TV so i'll stick to my setup now. I just need a way to have 4 audio sources on one set of speakers

here is College Hoops on xbox composite

2005 vs. 2001

So, can you run any computer(with a decent card) on the 2005 monitor? I thought that the native resolution would mess things up. I am contemplating upgrading my ibook to a 12" PB and would like to run that as well as my PC to it when I boot it up occasionally. I just don't understand the native resolution issue.

I had to download the latest ATI driver for my PC to work with the native resolution. My Mac mini picked it up automatically. The PB would be able to do the same

I asked a question at the rage3d.com forum, but never got an answer. I have an older PC with an ATI 9200 video card. I didn't see 1680x1050 listed as a supported resolution. I wanted to get the 2005 monitor, to use with my current PC and my upcoming Mac purchase. I ended up buying the 2001 model instead, for the same price. Anyone know if an older ATI 9200 will support this resolution?

Yes it does support the resolution. You won't be able to see the resolution in your Displays control panel unless your monitor actually supports that resolution. And downloading the latest Catalyst drivers won't hurt either.

Thanks. I know this topic is not related to the thread. I do have the latest drivers and unchecked the "Hide modes that thsi monitor cannot Display" Still didn't see 1680x1050 listed. No problem. For the price, I'll be very happy with the 2001. Who knows, maybe later this year I'll set up the 2001 on my son's system and get the Dell 24" 🙂

So, if I have an older nVidia card on my pc will the 2005 still work then? It just won't have the native resolution? I'm clueless about this one. At that price though it's such a smokin' deal.

Question

Which NVIDIA based graphics card will support the Dell 2005 20.1" widescreen LCD flat panel monitor?
*
Answer

All NVIDIA GeforceFX and Geforce 6 family of GPU's will support the native resolution of the Dell 2005FPW widescreen LCD monitor digitally.* Since the Dell 2005FPW uses a non-standard resolution, you may need to add the custom*resolution to your*display settings*by using the Custom Resolutions feature found inside the NVIDIA Forceware Display Properties.* The following article describes how to create custom resolutions:

Native resolution means the maximum resolution on the display. It's called native because LCDs don't scale down as well as CRTs do, and will always look the best at it's native resolution. Simple as that.

You said you have an "older" nVidia. Oh, how specific! nVidia cards go back. WAY back. I'll be willing to bet that a GeForce 2 and above will support the widescreen resolutions with the appropriate (read: latest) drivers from nVidia.

Thanks Zyuzin! Now that I read the article I understand how to change my 5600 Ultra on my PC and it will work with my soon to purchase G5 Tower.
I appreciate your patience and help with that!

An update I bought the Vdigi Adaptor and I was'nt really pleased. It's not the adaptors fault I just found the image way too Jaggy running at xbox's 640x480 in fact it looked better over composite

Seems like a really great buy, but I think it would bother me, personally, to see the word DELL everytime you glance at your monitor 😱 😀

Apple sticker anyone? 😛

A question for 2005FPW owners:

Is there a way to use the rotate (going from Landscape to Portrait) function of this display on a mac?

I can think of an easy way to get rid of that Dell emblem: get a dremel tool and grind it off. Maybe find a nice emblem to put there otherwise.
