Due to a forced move a few months ago, I am now in a space much smaller than my old office. At first I had my 27" iMac in my study, but I thought it was too large for the room. I decided to turn the guest bedroom into a small office, and since I can't fit as large a desk in it, I thought about VESA mounting. Sadly, I discovered that this is not possible without buying a new machine.

I was curious to see after finding that out though, how many people are using their iMacs with the VESA mount option, and if so, what sort of setup is it in?

I had an old thread about the best arm options for VESA mounts. Some of it is outdated now, but many of the issues / setups regarding VESA mounting were raised by knowledgeable MacRumors forum members.

Not worth the trouble of buying a new iMac.
And almost impossible to sell later on...

I’m using my iMac Pro with a vesa arm. It’s a lot more ergonomic for me and I have more space on my desk with the original stand gone. The ability to easily remove the stand and swap for an official vesa mount was one of the reasons (a minor reason) I went with the iMac Pro over the regular iMac.
