Did people seriously just assume that the mod was removing the bottom of the case, rather than it being removed so you can see the VelociRaptor seated in place?

Exactly. Obviously anyone can say that they are running the raptors. But you would have to remove the cover to show it.

You need 12 Volts, not the 5 Volts thats provided by the connector. You'll have to find some way to power 12 Volts to get the drive running in the first place.
