Kenwood

Iphone used to work great with my Kenwood head unit I just installed. Now ios4 isnt compatible apparently :( i dont know what apple did but its annoying

IOS4 does not work with the stock "infotainment" system in the Buick Enclave. Is there any chance apple can address this in a software update because I really don't want to rely on GM to release a firmware update... assuming it's even upgradeable.

I have a pioneer p8100bt and since i've installed ios4 on my iphone, the conection between my stereo and my iphone doesn't work anymore. The car stereo only displays "NOT COMPATIBLE" but with os3 it worked very well -.-

My 3GS works on my Dual XHD7714. Although the phone displays the compatibility warning, iPod mode works as expected. The track info is shown, I can browse the iPod with the remote, and all controls work. The phone switches to bluetooth when a call is received. A2DP audio works well, but without AVRCP support in the phone, I can't control the audio with the radio in this mode.

One quirk is that the phone will switch audio to whatever connected last. So if I'm on bluetooth and connect the iPod cable, the output will switch to the Dock Connector, and vice versa. It's a minor inconvenience when powering on the car and connecting the cable, as I usually will need to switch the audio output due to my timing.

For those who have iPhone-friendly docks/inputs (preferably USB) into their head units... Anyone take their current iphone, installed iOS4 and tried to use it? Did it work? Did it not work?

I got a Car Stereo (Sony GTX310UI) in my car and ran great on my iPod Touch 2g w/ 3.1.2 firmware via USB (plays, charges, controls iPod from headunit as well)... I'm hoping the new iPhone 4 will work as well, otherwise I'd have to start playing through headphone jack (analog, bleh) and not get the charging function, which in my opinion is almost crucial with the quick battery life these devices tend to have.

Hopefully I get some feedback from all of you who hooked it up to your car or home devices that are iphone-ready. Really interested in hearing your experiences and suggestions.

edit: my Sony GTX310UI was only 99 bucks last christmas on amazon, and was manufactured in late 2008, before the os3 existed, so this gives me hope.

I have the iCarKits iPod dock for my 2006 Honda Accord. It worked fine until after the iOS4 update. Now I get that annoying "This accessory is not supported by iPod touch" message.

FAIL!

Confirmed that my 3G with iOS4 works just dandy on my old-skool Peripheral iPod2Car hooked into a GM factory rig. I did notice the 'warning' box that pops up on the iPhone has different verbiage now, but still works just fine.

I also just plugged it into our 2010 Mazda CX9 with the touchscreen Navi unit and the factory iPod integration kit. It behaved very strange at first....

At first, it wouldn't let me scroll through playlists, songs, etc from the headunit. It just didn't "see" anything. So I came into the house to grab the manual for it but left the car running with the iPhone attached. When I came back (say 3 mins later), I noticed that all my playlists were now visible, along with all songs, artists, etc. Its like it had to digest some data or something...not sure what was going on there. The playlist screens on the headunit were running very slowly at first but the longer I left the car running with the iPhone attached, the faster they got. After about an hour, all is well and working fine now, as good as my first-gen iPod Touch which is the normal jukebox for that car.

Perhaps those of you who aren't seeing your playlists should 'let it ride' for a bit before abandoning hope? At first I thought mine wasn't working either...just took it a few minutes to start.

Updated my 3GS last week and took a road trip this weekend and it worked great in my BMW 135.

Heads up for the people using the iSimple Gateway device...

I haven't verified this myself, but it seems legit. Found by searching Google:

http://www.nissanmurano.org/forums/...gateway-apple-ios4-compatability-problem.html

"I just talked to PAC about the iSimple Gateway. They will have a new IC board available for this device on 06/23. This board can be ordered from the isimplesolutions.com website for $10.00.
You will have to swap the IC Board in your Gateway unit with the new one, and then download a software update from updates.pac-audio.com and flash your unit.
Then, it will work with the new iOS 4.
Seems like a pain, but kudos to PAC for getting this ready so quickly, and at a reasonable price. Otherwise, the only solution would be to buy a new, updated device when they begin manufacturing with the new IC Board.
"

I'll check the site tomorrow and call them. I want to make sure I get the new board soon. At least they are being reasonable if the price is $10 and not gouging or forcing to buy a whole new unit.

Actually the price is $30. They told a bunch of people (including me) via email it was $9.95 by mistake. They said they would honor that price only if someone produced an erroneous email that was addressed to them with the wrong price.

Kinda sucks because having to install it will likely mean removing the dash. I don't want to risk messing up my car, so I'll probably pay to get it done. The whole thing will likely cost around $50.

Sucks for iSimple because the iOS4 upgrade is going to cost a lot of $$ and headaches and bad PR to fix.

Well, all said and done $30 is still a heck of a lot better than either having to buy a whole new unit or some other solution. Sorry to hear it's a pain to get at in your car. Fortunately for me the console tray in my Acura pulls straight out (no tools) and I have it sitting right there in the back.

I'll be really happy if it's indeed available tomorrow or later this week.

2009 Scion Tc

Have the factory pioneer, was able to connect as usual with ios 4, however was not able to scroll through the artists, albums, etc. on my Iphone from the deck, as it seemed as if the phone could not keep up with the turn of the dial. Worked fine with ios 3. Not a huge deal, at least it still works, but annoying that I have to disconnect the phone, search for a new album, and then reconnect, especially on long road trips.

I have a Scion XB 06 with the stock Pioneer head unit. It works fine, but now gives me a different warning then it did before.

Oh and I have to use a Scosche Passport for charging since the Scion uses FireWire and the new iPhones only use USB power. The passport is worth it.

The updated IC for the iSimple Gateway (PXMAG) is up on the site now for sale. I didn't call and check availability, but hopefully since it's up they have them.

http://isimplesolutions.com/ipod-adapter/pxamg-ic.asp

Provides compatibility with Apple® iOS 4 Operating System on iPhone & iPod Touch.

* For use with iSimple GateWay
* Provides error-free operation
* Features Apple® Authentication co-processor

They don't mention a specific firmware version. On the PAC Audio site they do go into more detail:

http://www.pac-audio.com/productDetails.aspx?ProductId=1003&CategoryID=22

Compatibility Notes

* PXAMG must be revision .38 or higher

That's the latest firmware (hasn't been updated since Feb. this year). I'm guessing we will still need a FW upgrade in addition to the IC? I'll try it as it no matter what once I receive and install the new board.

If anyone gets theirs, please install and report.

** Update: I ordered this afternoon and already received my ship notice and tracking number. I wasn't aware the distribution was here in FL where I am, so I should receive it tomorrow. I'll install, test and report back within a day or two.

I have the Pioneer DEH-P3100UB and it doesn't work with iOS4. It starts playing fine for a bit when I connect the iPhone, but stops after a couple of seconds and gives a compatibility error.

It's real ****** cause I don't expect Pioneer to do something about this (they rarely release firmware updates), so I'm hoping Apple will quickly fix this. Using AUX at the moment but it sucks compared to USB.

Possible fix from apple support forums.

Hey everyone,

After reading a few posts on the Apple Support forums, they suggest you turn the iPhone off. (Hold the lock and home buttons until the prompt to turn off the phone. Then slide to turn off the phone. Once it turns off go ahead and turn it back on by holding the lock button. Then try using it again with your car head unit. My car stereo is the Sony CDX-GT540ui and I am using the iPhone through the USB interface.

After I tried the above method of turning the phone completely off and then back on, my car head unit started working again just as it did with iOS 3.1.3. I had initially tried just reseting it but it still wouldn't work right and only play 10 seconds then stop producing sound, though some report that a simple reset will fix the problem too.

Just a suggestion that will hopefully work for everyone.

Works excellent with all three of my Alpine units. I do use a Scosche IFWA charging adapter so it charges when plugged in. I did notice if I was streaming shoutcast and wanted to switch back to iPod mode I had to completely exit the app or I would get no sound.

I ran into the iOS 4 problem yesterday. I plugged in my iPhone to my USB radio WHILE I turned off and restarted my phone. Now it works perfectly, just like it used to. For the record, it was with a Sony radio.

Works fine on a 2010 BMW 750.
However, it does not fit the Smart Phone integration cradle for the iPhone 3GS.

A temporary workaround until a new cradle is out is an extension 30 PIN cable.

I own a traverse and this worked for me

The method used to recognize the USB device has a clever bit of code in the firmware to improve the connect time once the initial handshake with the device has been established. So after the update to iOS4, the host device (Car Stereo) still thinks that it is connecting to the un-updated client device (iPhone prior to updating to iOS4) The updated client device (Your iPhone with iOS4), must fool the host device (Your car stereo), into believing that it is an entirely new device. This is done by connecting your iPhone to the stereo head USB port with the iPhone switched off completely. This is achieved by holding down the top power button on the iPhone until the red slide bar comes up and prompts you to shut the iPhone down. Do this and then with the car stereo switched on, plug the iPhone into the USB socket and wait till the iPhone starts of it's own accord. If it does not start, press the top power button on the phone until it starts. This will force the host device (Your car stereo) and the client device (Your iPhone) to re-negotiate the handshake between the devices and get you back to where you will once again be happy.

The read the statement above from a different forum. I am not taking credit for this.

This worked for my Sony receiver, too. THANK YOU! This was driving me mad.
