Yay, connecting the iPhone while it's turned off solved the problem on my Pioneer car stereo! Thanks guys :D

GOOD NEWS!!

I received my replacement IC board (officially called 'Apple IC Authentication Chip') for the PXMAG gateway from iSimple today. Got it next day in ground shipping since they are only a few hours from me. Boxed well, nice instruction sheet.

Bottom line -- very easy to install. Took 5 min or less once I had the unit pulled from the car to put the new board in. Total installation time for me was about 10-15 min.

Verdict -- Works Great!

It actually works better than before. The compatibility messages are gone! Functions initially seem exactly the same. I use mine with the AUX1 option and control everything from the iphone. No firmware update is needed if you're already running version .38 (the latest release). Maybe they'll release a new firmware soon, but I don't see any problems so far. I played music for a few minutes without interruption. I'll know for sure on my commute tomorrow.

I know the thing costs $30 and it's a bitch that it just didn't work before (only had my unit for a few months now), but I do have to hand it to PAC Audio for getting a fix out this quickly. Could have been waiting months for it. Good job.

Simple shut down and restart seems to have worked with the X5
I still get the 'accessory not updated to work with this iPhone message'.
Placed a test call while the ipod was playing and the music restarted after the call.

Hopefully it will continue to function smoothly:cool:.

To start with I have tried all the "fixes" that I can find with no luck at all with either of our phones.

I am having troubles with both my 3GS and my wife’s iPhone4. We are both running iOS4. We have a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado with navigation and both phones do not work correctly with it. My 3GS worked perfect until the update. Neither phone is able to search by artist. If you bring up the artist section the head unit will become non-responsive. The Album section will still scroll as well as the song section. Both phones will give the not made for iPhone popup too. We still have her old 3G running on the 3.1.3 software and it works fine as did my 3GS until the update.

I also just purchased an Alpine IXA-W407 this week. Both my 3GS and her iPhone4 are very unstable with the head unit. You can't search by artist when using the search by alphabet option. It will make the head unit lock up. It will also throw the not made for iPhone error sometimes. Sometimes it will say that there is no USB connected when the phone is connected.

Denon AVR-1911 Sorround receiver

Has anyone experienced any problems with their Denon receivers?
Initially I couldn't connect my iPhone 3GS running iOS 4 to my receiver at all. I could when it was running 3.1.3. Then I tried to reboot my iPhone while it was connected to the receiver via the USB port, at first it worked the receiver recognized the iPhone and I was able to use the it as before. Eureka!!
Then about 30 seconds later the receiver lost the connection to the iPhone again. When I reconnect, it works for about 30-60 seconds, whereupon the aforementioned sequence repeats itself. The only thing I've found to relieve the problem is to return to the iPhone's home screen and let it stay there while playing. Then it will allow me to listen my music for at least 3 minutes. But if I lock the screen it will lose the signal after about half a minute.
Any ideas

Works with the new touch screen stock units in 2010 VW's (I have a Golf TDi.) Connected hardwire or bluetooth, everything works quite well.

I have a 2009 chevy cobalt SS with the USB port in the stereo. iphone has always worked great in it over usb port. It plays all playlists and everything. But after ios4 it would not connect to the phone. It would say "searching USB" or something like that forever when connecting. I did the turn off the phone thing and that fixed it. It now works as it used to. So thank you very much for giving this support. I pretty much did what "JoeArmend" said. I turned off my iphone, plugged it in to the USB port. Turned on the car. This caused the iphone to turn on all by itself. Then when it booted up the car stereo found it and everything worked normally. I have to say for me this was a big "DuH... I should have thought of that!"

Pioneer DEH-P5000UB

I have a P5000UB with an uninsulated USB cable for connecting my iPhone 3GS. It worked fine from time of purchase through 3.1.2. I've updated to iOS 4 and now have problems. I receive a "Dismiss" button instead of the "Airplane Mode" button, but I cannot use the "List" button on the head or the "Rotary Commander" to toggle through folders. The music stops and the iPhone is left in limbo. Do you have any suggestions?

I see some suggestions now. I'll try that tomorrow and see how it goes. Thanks everyone.

My 2010 Kenwood system works perfect with my iPhone 4. Everything is integrated right onto the 7" screen including album artwork. Only issue is it sometimes doesn't recognize the device and I have to unplug/plug it back in.

The Bluetooth integration on the system is flawless too. Helps to have an updated head-unit I guess.

EDIT: Does not work with Bumper, dissappointed.

Works fine on my 2009 Audi A5 with AMI.
Bluetooth for calls (full phone book integration), dock connection for music.
