I have a customized 15" rMBP arriving to me tomorrow, it was ordered last week. I will update whether it is LG or samsung tomorrow.

Mine is due to arrive Wednesday, I'm curious to see what we both get. I won't run any IR tests, but I will check to see which one I have. If I notice problems I will get it replaced, but I won't go looking for problems :)

Picked up the new standard max config 15 rmbp at a local apple store on Friday. It does have an LG display which from my limited use over the weekend seems absolutely perfect.

My LG does not shows the IR issue under my normal usage (although on the test it did showed the issue) so guess I'm sticking to it for now; I have the 3 year Applecare plan so hopefully will be covered for a while....

This is true, that the LG screens have been fixed for their IR issues? I just received my MBPr today, with an LG screen. However, in running tests I'm not seeing any IR issues. I'm wondering if the screens have been fixed, or if its just a matter of time for me here....

no its a baseless rumor that is now proven to be wrong at the apple boards, users have already seen IR on their brand new 2013 laptop w/ LG.

they are still faulty

----------

The LG displays have also been fixed for burn in (my first LG display did have severe burn in though) so there should be no complaints.[/QUOTE]

simply not true, look at the apple discussion board. users have are already complaining about the updated MBPrs w/ LG. They still have IR.

please check, im wondering if apple is still using LGs (crap) or if its samsung (sometimes crap) only.

there is a rumor again on the discussion board on apple.com that apple may have actually stopped using LGS on their updated 15 inch.

I exchanged mine which was 4 days old for the new 2.4 GHz version and my old screen was LG and the new one is Samsung. I didn't have any problems with the LG screen though.

I have a 2011 Macbook Air Ultimate with a Sammy screen, and just bought a 15" rMBP 2013 ultimate with an LG screen.

Definitely the Air is brighter than the retina. My LG screen is quite "yellow" before calibration, but after I calibrated it it seems very fine now :)

Nice to see that they are still using samsung for the 2013 models, i just keep reading about people getting LG screens

I received one yesterday that is a Samsung screen. Dont have anything to compare it to but it looked good.

Just took delivery of a 15 rmbp with 2.8 i7 and 768 GB (replacing a 2012 rmbp with 2.7 i7 & 500 GB purchased three days before the refresh). My original rmbp had a Samsung display, but the new one has an LG. Did the burn-in test and observed no IR yet.

I got my 15" 2.4, 16GB, 512SSD.
LG screen. I won't run the IR tests, but will get the screen looked at if I need during the warranty. I just don't feel obsessed enough to go looking for trouble.
I happen to get a Samsung SSD, which is speedy.

How can you compare both screens?

received my rMBP 15" today, was hoping since I'd ordered it just last week and upgraded the hell out of it I would get a Samsung screen, but unfortunately it appears its and LG. Not sure how to proceed now...

Here you go - a LG screen next to a Samsung screen. One machine is a mid 2012 while the other is an early 2013. Any noticeable difference, can you tell which is which?

Pictures are at low, medium and max brightness.

The real issue is image retention. If you're not experiencing ghosting then just enjoy your MacBook. There have been a number of LG owners here who have posted that their screens are fine.

I took today my son's Ipad 2 for warranty service to a local Apple retailer in Puerto Rico (we don't have Apples stores here :( ) and asked the service rep how they would handle the warranty repair of retina MBP with the Image Retention. To my surprise, instead of sending the whole machine to Apple in the USA what they do is to order only the screen assembly and replaced it locally. I'm tempted to handle in my 15" LG screen rMBP machine, which did showed IR on the checkers test (but don't show any noticeable IR on my normal issue) hoping to get a Samsung display in the process!!

bump, interested in Jenzjen's reply

The one on the left is the Samsung display. The reason I took pictures in the dark was the differences between the screens are no longer that apparent under normal light - at least for me.

The dilemma is while I see no traces of IR yet, some cases took a few months to develop.
