I'll buy one if they bring it up to 128 GB. Otherwise I'll probably just buy a refurbished 4th Generation.

I've already got a touch. So no I'm not buying another.

However I am going to buy one more Classic this week. I've enjoyed such great reliability with my original, I'm buying a new one before Apple discontinues them.

It's perfect for my huge music collection. I also enjoy the tactile sensation & control the click wheel provides.

Depends on what they add to it. And the price. If they add a better rear camera and lower to $199 for the base model, I'm there. If they keep the camera and price as is, no deal; I'll stick with my 2G iPT.

A recent rumor pointed to next year's iPT being a major redesign, so I might hold off for that... just hope it isn't some chumped out revision like the Nano last year.

My purchase will also depend on the iPhone revision. There are tepid rumors of a cheaper iPhone revision. So it also depends on the price and function of the possible low-end iPhone.

But, like you said, that iPhone would not be for use as a phone, making it fairly pointless (I know that there are some differences).
It would come with the immediate benefit of a better display. (The resolutions of the iPod touch 4 and the iPhone 4 screens are identical, but the iPhone's is a higher quality.)

I believe it would also offer you higher quality front and rear cameras than you can get in an iPod touch currently. Not to mention, GPS and compass location services, which could be useful in any apps which store their own cached maps.

Since this will be my first ipod touch Im waiting out the 5g model but only until Nov. and if it doesnt come out Ill jump on the 4g model.Who knows,it might be a better deal.

will the 5G be difficult to get when it first comes out? i know when the 4G came out it was impossible to get the first couple of months.. i ended up having to order it online. would be nice to get it in store this time.

A 128GB touch would be sweet.

There's a good chance 128GB is coming this year. It's been 2 years of 64GB as the biggest, and doubling is bound to happen. Maybe next year if not this year. As soon as there is a 256GB iPod Touch, I'm there 100%, no matter the price... 2014 probably.

No I will not get the next gen because i am satisfied with my current ipod touch 4th gen. No upgrade needed. I wll upgrade when they stop making software updates for it.
