lol.. well, in short, I had ordered the non-retina 15" with HR and AG. The first one I received was w/o HR and AG. Then, the second one had no hard drive [yup ], and finally the third one heated up like a MoFo to the point where it would shut down everytime!!

So, I emailed Mr Cook expressing my misfortune with these MBPs and received a call from the Corp. Exec. Customer Relations Dept and after much deliberation, they offered me the 2.6/512/8GB rMBP.

It so happened, that when I went to pick it up at the store, they only had the 2.7/768/16GB in stock and the manager [ after hearing my story and going thru the notes against my case # ] just gave me the damn ultimate Retina! :D

Who was I to say no :p

So, that's how I got the high end machine..

We all hate you now.....:D

Congratulation! :D

Where is the Applestore located? and what's the name of that nice manager? I want to try my luck too in that dreamstore... :D

Ah, do not forget to attach the email you sent to capitain Cook. I want to reproduce exactly your steps... :D

I think it is perfect I was able to create a 70GB bootcamp partition and still have ample space left over, the base model with 16GB of RAM has all the power and storage most people will ever need and in my opinion a little too much power.

Having gone from 500GB on my 13" MBP to the 256 on the rMBP (2.3/16/256), I can say that the space is a little constricting. However, I plan on buying a 'Nifty Drive' and will put my iTunes library on that. That will free up the space I need for other day-to-day tasks. I've also left all of my games on an external HD. My Windows partition is small at 20GB, but it's all I need as it is only used occasionally and many of the files have been offloaded onto a Windows partition on that very same HD. In a perfect world, my computer would have 512GB of solid state hard drive space (or more). For the price, however, this is just fine. I'm loving the retina MBP.

I find that insane that one didn't have a hard drive in it. Amazing present for 3x bad luck though.
