We thought alike boys lol.

I think the Pro will be the same as the Max. Coming from iPhone SE I am keen to try the 6.1” display first although I’ll probably return it for the Max. At least this year I’m more optimistic than ever we’ll be able to keep one of the new iPhones.
I’ve really gotten used to the 6.1” so I’m conflicted. I do think the PWM should be similar on the 6.1” and 6.7” as the differentiator appears to be the pro motion display. Maybe that’s why he could see the flickering on the regular 13 and mini.

iPhone 13 and Mini don’t seem that much different. It is looking distinctly possible that the display team managed to engineer a flicker-free LTPO OLED on the Pro models.

Hopefully all this is good news for me! The 12 Pros were the first OLED that bothered me.

I am going to try the 13 mini. Want something smaller than my 11.

I could barely look at the X or XS, but have not looked at the OLED screens on the 11 Pro or any of the 12 line up.

Fingers crossed

Ah, so it's also about resolution. Not just PWM
Well it's about wanting a flagship phone which Apple has decided should only have OLED. OLED has introduced PWM which I found out I'm sensitive to unfortunately.

The XR, 11 and SE 2020 are lower spec'd devices with compromises to meet their prices points. The XR and 11 also appear to have some display/pixel dithering which causes some eye discomfort.

Eye strain can be caused by lots of things and lower resolution displays are often the first suspect. To my eyes (which are far from perfect) the regular iPhone 326 ppi screen on the 8 is not as sharp as the 401 ppi screen on the plus. The lower resolution screen starts bugging my eyes after some time.

It's much higher, meaning the rate of flicker is higher, which is good. Lower the rate, the worse it 'feels' to those affected.

Iphone 12 series is around 250hz depending on the model.

Thanks!

My eyes have adjusted to my 12 Mini and it doesn't bother me anymore, but I'd love it if the 13 Mini somehow has a higher flicker frequency, for peace of mind that I'm not staring at a strobe light.

I get really bad headaches, nausea and dizziness using OLED screens due to pwm so I’m stuck with the iPhone 11. Interested whether anyone else with the same issue is going to try out the 13?
I got mine yesterday and i was burping and felt nauseous the first 10 mins of using it.. not sure what to do, i have the 11 pro max and have never experienced this dizziness until yesterday with the new phone. I’m thinking if i should i return the 13 and keep the 11?

Doesn’t sound like a pwm headache

For me, it started with burping + dizziness and then i’d want to puke, so it was motion sickness. As soon as I started feeling that way, I put away the phone so I didn’t use it long enough to see if i’d get a headache/migraine but I didn’t want to try either lol

I get nausea, dizziness and headache within minutes of using OLED screens. I actually felt so ill after trying the Samsung s21 my whole body felt like motion sickness was and weak, it was awful. Pwm can really make you feel all off balance and yuk.
Is it the 13 or 13 pro you’ve tried?

I bought the iPhone 13 pro max Friday and set it up and used it for 2hrs, I can report that I have no headaches, no eye strain and no nausea!! Woo hoo!! 2 days later and no change. In the past I could not handle any phone 240hz and below. The X, XS, 11pm and 12 pro all gave me headaches eye strain. I’m so happy that I can finally keep an OLED iPhone 😃👍🏼📱
I did reduce the white point to 55% and use the phone at about 80% brightness. Last I read in other forums that the hz rate is 480, high enough for me to use. Hope this helps anyone on the fence, give it a try.
