Without a custom ROM just try deleting the carrier bloatware found on other phones.

You do not need a custom ROM for that. Rooting will suffice. The you can remove all you want (for example, using Titanium Backup). More importantly, you do not really need to completely remove the apps. While the entire iOS is just a glorified app launcher, Android is a more evolved OS. It shows all apps only in the special App Drawer while allowing users to customize their main pages as they want. You can easily remove any bloatware from the main pages and it will never bother you again.

This is how I hid it on my iPhone running iOS 6. Love having Newsstand in a folder!

I rescind my earlier comment and will say that yes, the above method with editing the backup does indeed work. Wonder what else you could do with that

I wish I knew how NoSpot worked. I'd be editing my backups like a motherfuxxor.
