So the 16 Pro is my first iPhone with the AOD (came to it from a 13 Pro). Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but can anybody give me a compelling reason to leave AOD enabled? I have an Apple Watch so I don't need to look at my phone for the time or notifications, what life changing feature am I missing out on if I leave AOD turned off?
When I had a 14 I found AOD too distracting. For example if my phone has AOD and laying up I’d instinctively look at it like a trained mouse. I left it off and I don’t feel a need for AOD. I definitely like how android does AOD. It’s less distracting. Now I love AOD on my Apple Watch.

I have a AW and use AOD on my 14 Pro and now 15 Pro. I use it for Live Activities and and scan notifications. Also, if I don’t have my AW on me, I use it to check the time.

Considering it uses barely any battery since its at a 1hz level, I love it because when my phone is on the desk I can glance over and see the time, or if I have any notifications, etc without turning on the screen each time (Which saves even more battery and its just convenient) and I do not always look at my watch. No one needs to give you a reason lol, Thats why there is an option to turn it on or off, Do what you prefer, why would we have to give you a reason to decide? LOL

For myself, I can quickly check the battery status of my iPhone, AW, and Air Pods. Also glance at notifications I might have missed. And it looks nice when docked in my car vs a blank display.

I don't like busy watchfaces with a thousand complications on it. So when it comes to quick glances of info without touching anything, AOD wins.

I just wish Apple would give us the same multi-color option for the widgets and date as we get for the time. Makes no sense why we cant get that added.

I don't make my decisions by popular vote, or by pretending I'm a guest on the Dr. Phil show. It was an honest question to see if there was some feature I wasn't aware of that would change my mind. I'm open to listen and learn from others, I didn't ask because I wanted to know if I was one of the "cool kids".

Turned it OFF day 1 on my 15 Pro. I can see why some would use it, but it dims the screen significantly so that PWM kicks in and thats no good for me at all.

If I could change the clock's typeface I would leave it on. But as it is, I don't need the clock so ridiculously big on AOD. I really, really miss the old edge clock from my Galaxy S23. Big enough to see to check the time and notifications, but not so big to be a distraction.

This thread helped me out! I've always left it off, thinking that having an AW made it redundant, but someone mentioned being able to see live scores. Now I'm loving it. So thank you! :)

I have a focus to auto turn AOD on while at home.

AOD is massively useful at home, because you don't wear your watch, you put your phone on the couch/table/beside the keyboard

Anyone else have an issue where it sometimes takes an extra tap or two to 'wake' the phone from the AOD? I have a 15 Pro, and it does it juuust enough to annoy me!
