Could i have some on camera for a newbie!
Nothing cheap.
Can be $700 or less!

Suggestions may be Opened!

Yeah, its NOTHING alright!

I forgot that I did not have Aperture installed on my system so I tried to install Aperture 1.0 and was told my system did not meet minimum hardware requirements. ARGH! They now allow you to run Aperture 1.5 on Intel integrated graphics (whatever), but a MDD with dual 1.25 GHz processors, ATI 9600 Pro and 2GB of RAM is insufficient! I will NEVER recommend this pile of crap application to anyone.

Apple has their heads so far up their behinds its unbelievable. Check the system requirements--THEY ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE AND TOTALLY ARBITRARY! Can someone please tell me why a PowerBook G4 with a SINGLE 1.25GHz G4 makes the cut, but a maxed out PowerMac G4 MDD does not? Also, if you have a MacPro you suddenly need 2GB of RAM!? What a JOKE!

The only reason I downloaded this update was because I saw from the specs that the GPU and CPU requirements had been lowered. How are you supposed to run the 1.5 Updater if Aperture 1.0 won't even install?

1. Is Aperture essentially a replacement for iPhoto for pro's?

No! You need mucho hardware or whatever configuration (ie, shipping hardware) that Apple has blessed to run this app.

Save your time and download the beta for Adobe's Lightroom. Much better and no stupid hardware requirements. Aperture is a failed attempt by Apple to convince photogs to spend mucho dinero on Pro systems.

soooo, why did you buy a $300 application even though you couldn't run it on your machine? you "forgot" you didn't have it installed?

why is 10.4.8 taking forever to optimize? it didnt take long on my macbook.lol. thery changed a lot of the icons, it will take some getting used to

I see no icons that have changed on 10.4.8 on a Intel Machine.

I tried Aperture 1.0 and 1.1 in the past and found the image quality resulting from RAW conversions to be not as good as that which I obtain with Capture One. Does anyone who also felt this way now think the situation has changed with Aperture 1.5? With the iLife integration, I am hopeful that I will be able to make the change; but if the image quality isn't there, I'll stick with C1.

... But, at long last, Apple realized that some of us aren't all that anal, yet still want the control offered in other areas by Aperture.

While this is a step in the right direction, hopefully Apple realizes it is still far from the kind of integration it needs to offer here. Essentially, prosumer-class users are penalized for "stepping up" to Aperture by missing out on many of the iPhoto features (significantly better slideshows for home users, for instance). It's an all-or-nothing proposition: if you want the power offered to professionals, you lose the features and automation padding put in for home users. But, I've already ranted and raved about that, so I'll stop now :)
Ditto. I keep importing into Aperature and then cross-porting into iPhoto so my wife can use the same pictures.

There's many steps in the right direction here though-- import to iPod and screensaver integration are biggies too.

Same here.

As much as I want to love this program...

what's wrong with Apple's little gift - your Mac heating your home for an evening, giving your radiators a break :D

does Aperture integrate with .Mac nicely like iPhoto.....

what i am trying to saying is "can you still do all the same "consumer" type things with Aperture, or is it so geared towards pros that the basic things are missing"
You'll have to check the .Mac integration-- I think you can export web sites but probably not all the little things iPhoto does.

No, Aperture doesn't do all the nice "consumer" things, which is one thing I'm a little disappointed in. On the other hand, I think Apple needed to make it clear this isn't just "iPhoto Pro" or they wouldn't have carried much clout with the truly professional crowd.

I'm not a pro, but I'm a pretty serious amateur and I wanted some of the Aperture features (primarily the keywording and vaults). I wind up keeping iPhoto and Aperture libraries...

Anybody else in the Cupertino area feel a disturbance in the force-- like tens of developers all shouting "D'oh!" at once?

I'd guess you'll need to install from the boxed version once 1.5 makes it into circulation.

Electron Boy: Settle down. The requirements are GPU dependent. Believe it or not, Intel Integrated offers more bang than a lot of the older GPUs.

I believe you can use this link to download an installer for Aperture 1.5, bypassing the 1.0/1.1 installer on your disk. I can't confirm this since I didn't need it.

http://www.apple.com/aperture/download/

Has anybody confirmed whether you can use Aperture 1.5 on a Rev. A iMac G5? My friend is dying to know.

Oh, and hi everyone. This is my first post.

goodness, gracious!!!

I have a 15"PB 1.67 ghz - 2GB ram. I installed the Aperture update around midnight. It is now 7:30 in the morning (i.e. 7.5 hours of running update), and it is still generating previews!

The fans were blowing all night and made it difficult to sleep. Boy, there must be some heavy duty processed going on. I am still waiting for the previews to finish generating... going on 8 hours now!

Cheers!

p.s. FYI: I have several thousand photographs in my libraries. ;-o

New Loupe

Houd do you get the new loupe? I still have the old one.

And noise reduction still doesn't do a thing!

FX 5200 Ultra is supported as per their Software Update note. Give it a try. May be it'll run on FX 5200 too.

Soooo...anyone got any experiences of Aperture 1.5 running on a fully souped up Macbook (2.0 Ghz, 2GB)??? Please?

It aint no MacPro but it works effectively.

Hmmm...I'll have to check it out at the Apple Store. As long as it works without having to leave it for minutes every time you do the slightest bit of editing, it'll tide me over until next Summer when I plan to buy a Mac Pro.

I wonder when they'll have Aperture installed on teh Apple Store Macbooks?

I disagree but can understand your predicament. Aperture and lightroom are both great products. Lightroom is certainly the more accessible of the too.
