to shed some light into the usage and terms and conditions.. there is NO difference between the downloaded version and the physical one.
This clause:
"You may download and use an application from the Mac App Store for personal, non-commercial use on any Apple-branded products running Mac OS X that you own or control."
Only applies to running the same software on multiple computers that you own and/or control.
There are 3 options you can fall in with the App store:
1. Install on one computer, do whatever you want with it.
2. Install on any number of computers that are used by one single person.
3. Install on any number of computers that are controlled by one person but possibly used by others, for personal and noncommercial use.

All the clauses are described in the T & C. I cannot get back to it either but it states the personal use policy AND that if you are a company you need to purchase individual licenses etc.

(part of this post copied from another thread).

IPS: I even went ahead and called Apple (nordic) and asked them about it and they verified it that once you install the same application on multiple computers they are tied to YOU, not that you can run a department with your aperture 3 license. There is no restriction from apps on the app store regarding professional/commercial work.

IMHO they should have formulated this clearer..

hope this helps.

Yes.

Open the MAS on your iMac and log in with your Apple ID. Click on the purchases tab and the apps you have downloaded on your MacBook Pro will be available to download and install on your iMac.

Thank you very much !!!

My brother is drooling over the $79 Aperture at the moment.

I personally am very happy that Sketchbook Pro is on sale for $30.

Well I was holding off for a few reasons but this seems to nice of a price to pass up even if it get's an update/revamp in a few months. Nice to see one can have this on a couple Mac's that you own.

i called apple yesterday and they told me its the upgrade not the full version in the store...unless some 1 ese knows differant

It is definitely the full version. I have purchased it, and did not have a previous version.

As pointed out, the major difference is in the licensing. Remember, when you buy software you aren't actually purchasing the software, but a licence to use that software. The terms of the licence will determine the licence cost.

Still deciding whether to bite the bullet or not, maybe this will help you decide...now cheaper than PSE9...

MOD NOTE: Threads merged.

PSE (or PS for that matter) is not a competitor of Aperture (or Lightroom). They are complementary.

Aperture is primarily aimed at people trying to process vast amounts of RAW images. If you have done a big shoot, it is perfect to organise your shots, group them, examine and discard bad ones, and do basic processing (but that is quite often more than enough).

PS is more about doing extensive digital imaging on individual shots, though of course you can batch processing.
