Seems to be working for me. I was experiencing issues with it the last couple of weeks, laggy, get "can't connect" alerts, and have to search a second time to get it to go.

But those issues seem to be gone now.

As of right now (4:18pm PDT) I still can't use the iTunes Store, either via the iTunes app on my Mac or my iOS devices. Searches come back with no results, and nothing loads in iTunes.

My AppleTV has all 3rd party apps on it and some Apple apps, but Movies and TV Shows have disappeared. I can access the App store from my iPhone, though.

For about two weeks, I had the same issue. Couldn't access any of my purchased content via ATV. Finally, I unplugged it for a few minutes. On startup, all was right with the world again. :)

Yeah I couldn't update my copy of Skype, but could everything else. For some reason I thought I was being blocked by the Great Firewall.

Eventually it downloaded after many tries into my iPhone, but not onto my Mac.

There have been reports from several sources, over the last few days several large companies have been DDoS'd with extortion demands. "Give us money or we will keep it up." I would think, even state sponsored attacks would have trouble with a network the size of Apple or Google.

wait, so just because it was down i couldn't stream content i purchased?
but those shiny discs still worked?

All of these App Store & iTunes server failures could be due to iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite changes coming for both.

I mean, it sounds likely. Both are in beta and they are adding several new features for iOS App Store as well as OS X App Store.

Not to mention we have not heard anything from the new redesigned iTunes 12 for Yosemite.

Who knows.

Apple's iTunes Store and App Store appear to be down for many users on both iOS devices and desktops, with attempts to access the stores resulting in one of several error messages such as "Cannot Connect to App Store" and "The item you've requested is not currently available in the U.S. store."

Issues seem to have begun this morning, as several users noted an inability to download the Skype app following its release. Some users attempting to download the app received a message indicating the app was no longer available for download.

The iTunes Store does not appear to be loading content for affected users, with the Music, Movies, TV Shows Books, App Store, and Podcasts section of iTunes all giving error messages. Search remains functional on the desktop, however.

For the App Store, some users are having trouble loading multiple sections, including Featured, Top Charts, and Near Me, while other users are able to access certain sections like Top Charts. The Purchased and Update tabs appear functional, with the Purchased tab able to download apps. Search is down on the App Store on iOS devices.

The Apple TV also appears to be experiencing issues, with the Movies and TV sections missing and inaccessible.

Apple's System Status page is not currently reporting any outages.

Update 2:00 PM PT: Apple says that the iTunes and App Store outage has been resolved.

Apple expends time and resources on a car, new space ship facilities, etc. etc. but can't take care of their core business ... iTunes is broken, the App sore is broken, etc. etc.

Tim Cook seems to be mesmerized with the spotlight and scooting around the world on new projects. He ought to try staying in Cupertino enough to discover that is going on with his mother-ship Apple .... oh, how we miss Steve. This would never happen on his watch.

HUH? What's this got to do with the App store being down about a year and a half ago?
