So they let the intern use inner shadow on Photoshop on the old logo 🤦🏻‍♂️

Gradients in design can look really nice if they’re considered and executed will. These just look like cheap versions of icons circa iOS 7.

I don't mind the shadows, but my issue is this logo lost its meaning when Apple removed the pencil/brush/ruler that formed the "A". Now it just looks like shadows-on-top-of-shadows with the weird gaps. It would look so much better with 3 straight lines forming the A.

What happened with the Cupertino design language decision? The older subtle gradient one was more cleaner. Is Apple starting to have icon and interface identity crisis?

Oh no… they're trying to bring embossing back. This pendulum of flatness to dimensionality is quite confounding.

What I hope is coming next is a translucent rainbow interface. Iridescent, not ultra gaudy but that features a mix of solid whites and blacks along with borders. Kind of an even more interface-less design. I've always thought it'd be cool if you turned the phone, the image could change like a holographic effect. And there could be a way to hold the phone to turn that functionality off and "lock" to a certain interface view. Right now, the swipe function is way too frequent.

You guys have some serious problems. Get over it. They will fix it eventually, one day. Or not.
I am rather more upset, how problematic Apples software is nowadays, not in terms of look, but stability etc.

I always think the App Store icon is a picnic table for a split second every time I see it. Is it just me?

Looks like someone just came out of a Photoshop training and got its first assignment

LOL, get it together Apple. Anyone seen Google's re brand of G-Suite? Like it or not, you could not have a more cohesive design language going on.

Looks like Windows 95 screensaver.

We're going further away from internal consistency in Apple's own icons.

eh, there’s always a few years of transition when Apple switches icon styles. I remember some of the older iOS 6 style icons sticking around as late as iOS 8 or 9.

Edit: This is a way better icon than the previous one. The only thing is the blue outline needs to be thicker in order for this to work...but this is a vast improvement over the previous icon.

Can't stand this style. It's pretty much if you did a gaussian blur on Aqua UI.

Though resisting for a few years, the urge to deboss is strong with these ones.
