Lmao!

Apple Spokesperson said:
His experience and perspective as a developer is one of the valuable things he brings to Apple’s developer relations team.

I wonder what the interview was like...

Apple: "Your experience looks solid, we'd just like to see some examples of your work"

Shoemaker: "You see in this one, not only can you make fart sounds, you can pretend to pee for a really long time!"

Apple: "... Welcome to the team!"

As much as it stinks to hear this (sorry) people would be up in arms if Apple had forced GrayNoodle to shut down. Apple is wrong no matter what they do :p

This tells us absolutely nothing about Shoemaker’s functioning at Apple. (But I kind of like having a former development guy in power at Apple! I won’t rush to say he’s a bad choice just because his former company was greedy enough to cash in on the iPhone in a lazy way. I should hope he wasn’t hired for his creative app concepts or UI design, but for other skills! In fact, who knows where those awful app designs came from—they were not necessarily Shoemaker’s own pet ideas, even though he seems to have managed their release. And if they WERE his start-to-finish, then his sense of humor doesn’t have to be tasteful to execute his current duties.)

I lol'd. What a crappy past couple months Apple's been having in the spotlight...

awesome.

I suppose I see the conflict of interest if Apple says Apple employe can not make apps while working at apple, but allow this one man's apps. However, it looks more like he made and submitted the apps before he STARTED working for apple. Accepting an offer is not the same as starting. Even if we did, I doubt he had the cloud to push through apps that would otherwise be denied with in a few weeks.

"His experience and perspective as a developer is one of the valuable things he brings to Apple’s developer relations team"

So his experience as imature, lame and opportunistic is what he brings to Apple's developer relations team. That's just great. Best of luck!

I wonder if he had that on his CV?

2008: Developed a Flatulence Simulation Application for the iPhone/iPod Touch
2008: Developed a Bladder Evacuation Simulation Application for the iPhone/iPod Touch

I think "Mammal Excretion Simulation Application" should be a whole new category in the App store.

Waiting for the iPeeInTheSnow app :D

Seriously - conflict of interest definitely applies here.

Wow, so he made fart applications?

Big deal, if he does his job right whats the big deal?

I'd rather have that than some self-righteous old suit running the department.

several of which fall into the category of low-brow fart and urination humor, still available for sale.

Apple must be lowering their expectations for directors. URINATION HUMOR? If he finds this content funny, then don't give him a high position, Apple. Or better yet, no position at all.

Clearly they've hired the best man for the job. A guy that classy and with that sort of real-world experience can't be overlooked just because of the potential conflicts of interest.

[/sarcasm]

hahaha, awesome.

No surprise that only a few other people in the whole macrumors crowd could just have a laugh at it--somehow i knew the macrumors crowd by and large wouldnt have a sense of humor...again

LOL @ this bit of info i say

im sure he does get apps approved faster than anyone else since he works for apple. big deal, MINOR INCONSEQUENTIAL perk of the job.

pretty benign, and i think i hear the worlds smallest violin playing for those who find reason to complain that the fart app of he who runs the app store likely, not surprisingly, and truthfully expectantly gets placed ahead of your fart app, apple for which youve done and continue to do nothing.

big deal, have a laugh and move on instead of whining about conflicts of interest over lousy apps nobodys going to buy. it isnt even the principle, the guy works for apple and manages the app store, IMO he SHOULD get priority app submission/approval status since hes not just joe blow with a $99 dev kit.

No wonder the approval and overall quality of the App Store is going down the drain.

Way to go Apple.

Larry Page saying against Eric Schmidt and Sergey Brin: Hahaha look at this, Apple is really a classy Business!

The two Apps in the Store suck big time, I hope that he's a better employee than an App designer...

I'd love to hear his discussions with App developers as an Apple rep.

Dev: "So how do you think we can improve the profitability of our App?"
Phillip Shoemaker: "Well, you could make it fart or urinate . . . that worked for me."
