Apple's inane rejection policies limit the amount of quality apps and discourage developers. We have plenty of free fart soundboards though.

is there an emulator to play the apps on the computer?

THAT would be a great idea and open up a much larger market.

They have a simulator that comes with the development software. But as soon as you get an app that requires the phone, core location, the accelerometer, or multi-touch then you're SOL.

Besides, all the other apps could probably be ported to the Mac pretty easily so...

Cool, but i hope this relaxing of rules they recently have going continues if they want this type of press to continue coming out of the mill.

I would love to know how many app applications they have received versus the number of apps currently available in App Store.

What Apple will do is release the "iTablet" and they'll work with that. Millions of people will buy it so their games, 'net and other stuff look really good on an 8" screen. Me. First in line. You don't make it compatible with something that people already have. You give me something they're willing to shell out another $400-500 on!

So with 15,000 apps, how on earth do good ones get found? It seems like there must be hundreds or thousands of apps with next to no downloads, and some of those are probably great.

It seems kind of like music, where being known is just so enormously helpful, because you can't expect people to find you just because you exist.

that would actually be a good strategy.

macbooks have accelerometers to stop the disks when you drop it. they also have multitouch and the home button can be assigned with the new trackpads! this could work!

I was like 30 of those apps and I can't say that I was happy with every purchase. I'd like to see a trail of the full app even if was a few hrs worth

Of that number.... how many are distinct downloads and distinct applications? That is, did they count app versions or all versions of an app only counted as 1? Did they count downloads of the different versions?

I was wondering the same thing. Of course when it's good news, no one here questions the source or details.

Inflated number of apps. The App store needs a trial function. I'd say of the free apps 1/3 - 1/2 are lite apps.

wonder how to find something in there with +15000 apps...

You have to go to other websites to get links because unless you know the exact name of what you're looking for the search function either overloads or undercuts the results.

Great but unfortunately 98% of those apps are total crap making it very hard to find the great apps that I would love to use. The iTunes Store makes it way too easy for some random geek to publish some utter crap app in hopes of making some ridiculous amount of money (which he / she won't if the app is like the majority of the apps are). I think the ease of submitting the apps to the Store is turning against itself making it harder and harder to find the good ones. The dev policy rejects the apps that would truly be useful and allows the crap that no one needs to enter the store. Honestly, there are around two hundred new apps submitted every day and only very very few of them have any real use.

Lol

Very good achievement indeed!

PS: 20 negative comments? So many idiots? LOL

Wow

They gained 5000 Apps and 200 Million Sales in less than a Month in a Half. Wow.
