IOS 6 App store barely usable.

Wow, Apple what went wrong???? iOS 6 and the app store are total crap.
Navigating in the app store has become a nightmare. Takes forever to scroll through all the apps. Scrolling is jittery and loads horribly slow.

After I've spent a frustrating and tedious time scrolling through the apps it suddenly shuts down and goes to the home screen, then I get to start over again from square 1.

I'm on a fast broadband internet service. Using an iPad 3.

PS: Between this problem and loosing Google maps and Youtube you're ruining my iPad experience. I want iOS 5 back.

Constantly crashes on the iPod 4th G. App Store is confirmed useless as far as I'm concerned. Also I noticed apps like Yahoo Messenger crashes in the background if you're signed into messenger and you are browsing the web on safari for example. Next time you go to yahoo messenger you'll notice it's crashed and automatically signs you in and plays the sign in sound.

Are any of you experiencing a lot of crashes when browsing the app store in iOS 6? It's driving me crazy and seems a lot like a beta to me :( Furthermore when the app crashes I sometimes get the "OLD" layout on the bottom referring to "Top 25" for example instead of the new "Charts".

I think it's odd and wanted to check if any of you are experiencing the same?

Thanks in advance.

I agree, it's horrible. It's been horrible throughout all the beta's and it hasn't gotten any better. Pretty ridiculous.

Don't let it drive you crazy, but if it isn't fixed, then go to a mental crisis center.
I'm in the very large group that's experiencing the same problem as you are. The top 25 shows up and searching for "Purchased" apps always crash and so on.
What I do like about the new App Store is the fact that you can view more apps that the developer has, and there are many.
Be patient - it's a good virtue.

It kept failing to connect for me, but I did a search, and now it connects every time.

Genius crashed the app the first time, but I killed the app and opened it again. Genius worked but lagged. After swiping through a few apps, Genius stopped lagging. So that's another first-run bug that somehow got sorted out.

Everything seems to be taking longer to load, though. It might just be my DNS, or Apple's servers could be under stress. It's not an issue, but it's noticeable. Despite the bugs, I like the update because the bugs went away after the first couple of uses, and the new interface is better.

This is on an iPhone 4.

A few recommendations:
1. Try force-closing the App Store by double-tapping the home button and pressing the red minus sign on it. Open it again. That fixed everything for me.
2. Download the YouTube app if you want it. Apple's YT app was terrible, and Google made their own now.
3. Use the online Google maps for the time being if Apple maps is bad in your area. It's a little more annoying than the app, but it works.

Yeah it's crashed a couple of times for me (whereas it never crashed in iOS 5 for me). Also I noticed that the Updates button at the bottom moves from time to time. Sometimes it's on the far right where it normally is, and sometimes it appears in the middle. Weird.

I do love the fact you no longer need your password to update apps.

It has not crashed all for me on my old 4S or the new 5. However, I do hate the new look of it. I wish they would have never changed anything other than being able to download things without leaving the App Store & not having to put your password in for updates and free games.

Steve Jobs would be rolling in his grave. Releasing iOs 6 with do many bugs, crashing apps and platform issue as well as ramming Apple Maps down our throats has been tragic.
Tty to RIP Steve ............

it tells me it "timed out" every time I try to use it :(

Try setting the Date on the phone (General settings) to one year ahead, then try to open the apps store, then set the date back to automatic and try again.

A lot of people had problems with timing out when trying to use the Passbook link to the app store and that resolved it for them (including me), maybe it will help your situation as well.

Once I got the 5 it worked like normal :)....thanks for the tip though.

I find it a bit sluggish when browsing apps and also when scrolling through the apps when searched. The old store was much better.

I have a problem with the new App Store in the update section. In the old version, you just needed to tap "Updates" in the botton to refresh the list of updates available.

Now, tapping "Updates" seems to do nothing. There doesn't seems to have a way to refresh the Updates page (apart from killing the app and reopening it)...

This worked for me. Hope Apple puts a fix out for this soon. Not going to enjoy doing this on a daily basis!
