And Apple wants to grow their services business?!? They can’t seem to manage what they have. LOL

No company promises 100% uptime, or else they are lying. I suspect Apple's uptime exceeds the max 99.9% that most companies promise.

Once in a while we get the grim reminder how cloud services going down render so much of our devices useless nowadays...

What really puzzles me is how a company of Apple's size doesn't seem to have enough redundancies in place to avoid such blunders, especially that when services go down its usually affects things worldwide, and it's not limited to a smaller geographic footprint.

Lots of company promises 100% uptime, they just have money back for downtime.

No one talks about uptime in three 9s aka 99.9%, that is roughly 9 hours downtime per year. The aim for high availability are now in five 9s, 99.999%. Roughly 6 minutes downtime a year. Most companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft manages to do it for their SaaS parts. ( Which excludes their Server and Cloud VM Business )

Apple has come a long way since its early days of downtime. But it is still not quite close to its industry leaders yet.

Quick someone dig up Steve we need to get him reanimated before the end times arrive and we have a two hour outage.

Amazon isn't experiencing reduced growth in iPhones, iMacs, etc. so services growth is a bigger deal for Apple going forward (which they've publicly stated). I guess you don't follow Q results/reports.

Not to mention, there's a huge difference between a massive network load on a Cyber Monday vs a Tuesday night. LOL.

The App Store, iTunes, Apple Music, and other Apple services appear to be experiencing downtime right now, with multiple MacRumors readers reporting outages across multiple systems.

When attempting to access the App Store, users are receiving a message that it can't be reached, while Apple Music says "We've run into a problem" when attempting to access the For You or Browse features. As for iTunes, streaming iTunes content was interrupted and can't be reaccessed.

The outage appears to be affecting Apple customers in multiple countries, including the United States, the UK, and Germany. Given the volume of reports, most if not all users seem to be unable to access Apple's services.

Apple's System Status page is not reporting an outage at this time, and it is not known how long Apple's services will be down for. We'll update this post when the App Store, iTunes, Apple Music and other features are once again functional.

Try adding an email account through settings. What a nightmare.

Very frustrating, was watching a just bought movie and suddenly it stopped playing. A good njimber of minutes on the phone still waiting for a rep to answer...
Apple is definitely going down, they need a reality check and bring back what it used to be.

What, back to like how they did MobileME?
Even AWS cannot quarantee 100% uptime. Considering how many more people are using Apple devices and services, IMO Apple is doing a decent job. Compare that to Microsoft who frequently have their a office activation server down, rendering installation of their Office 365, their own bread and butter product, impossible.

Their refurbished product store just got a lot worse. They added a bunch of javascript to make it slower, and they made it so you have to click to open the product page for each Mac to see its year and specs. I preferred the old design.
