But where this could come in handy is if you were not actually searching for an app, but then found out there WAS indeed "an app for that" in your regular search that you were not aware of.

Having to preface your search with "download" makes this kind of useless, though, from that perspective. If I wasn't thinking about downloading an app, I wouldn't be searching to download something in Safari since...you can't download stuff in Safari.

I tried this on my ipad, and it is not working.

Did you make sure to switch to Google Mobile? Maybe they didn't think to add the iPad as a recognized device for this feature (vs. iPhone, Android) because it's not considered a "mobile" device by default.

The App Store on my iPhone works quite well at finding apps. So no thanks.

But if I need to find my car keys or my kid's shoes, I won't use Gaudle for that either.

BTW, I have no use whatsoever for that pointless company.

A very cool and welcome feature from Google. Looks like they are throwing a hand of friendship back to Apple.

More like a dead fish.

I wonder if there was any debate at Google whether or not to include iPhone results! I suppose that if they didn't, they would be accused of violating their open, inclusive philosophy. Apple is quite closed and exclusive, but they could get away with it since their so outright about it

What if you didn't know an app existed? You wouldn't go to the store to search for something you didn't know about.

Like, if you're searching for "Restaurant Reviews" in google on your iPhone, it'd be nice to learn about some app results at the same time you're seeing websites. That way you can compare the apps to the sites you see and decide what will fill your needs better.

Now that I like, because I use the power search in the app store, and I still cannot find everything I am looking for. Going to give this a try.

Well, Google is currently preparing a HTM5 app store. So it makes a lot of sense for them to get people used to search iPhone apps with google and not with iTunes anymore as it'll easier later to sell them their HTML5 apps through the google store.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2; en-gb; Nexus One Build/FRF50) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

Not a bad thing if developers get more support from these search results!

This all makes sense when you realize google does not make much money off of Android. The whole point of Android is to increase the number of people on the mobile web and thus increase the reach of internet advertising.

Thus, from a purely business standpoint, Google doesn't much care if people are using Android or iPhone or WinMo or Blackberry, *so long as they are on the mobile web.*

I'm feeling mixed on this. Google's useful, but they're not so good on privacy. I bet google will use this information for their advertising.

Google App

I think this is a great idea! I am a big user of Google and I think that Mac and Google teaming up together sounds awesome! I cant wait to see the turn out on this.
