Will be very interesting to see how this (well.. more so the hardware pricing) will affect their market share when looking back in a couple years.

Thanks for the heads-up though. Have been eyeing a couple of apps waiting for a discount but maybe I should wait no more.

As someone already mentioned, we’ve been there. Apple will keep the prices up long after the exchange rates has swung around in favor of the Euro and when they eventually return, Apple will require active participation from the devs to readjust them. Last time they raised prices on their own but pretended like they couldn’t revert them once the Euro went up again.

Can’t wait for that sweet sweet Euro third party app toggle and alternative App Stores to compete with Apple.

Luckily, this won’t affect me since I very rarely buy apps and don’t rent software!

Ok, time to consider some of my pending purchases, such as Affinity Photo, lifetime Halide (60€), lifetime Apollo Ultra (50€)…

I wanted to purchase RSS feed apps such as Reeder and Lire, but I’ve been waiting for months to get the V.6 (if you purchase Reeder 5 for instance, you have to pay again for Reeder 6, and those RSS apps are already on the end of their cycles… so I guess I’ll wait for Reeder 6 and Lire V.6).

By the way, I expect Apple to lower the prices once the Euro recovers its strength.
Have you tried NetNewsWire?

We all know that when Euro regains its strength against USD Apple will not reduce the app prices. Companies will always find ways to increase price without backlash.
The backlash is in reduced sales volume. That may be compensated, and more, in the short term by increased profit margins, but customers that take their money elsewhere may simply not come back.

Apple these days sell services as well, and uses volume to drive the procurement deals. There are consequences for a company when increasing prices that are not immediate.

Folks, Apple already increased their prices weeks ago.

This is for app developers. They can't pick prices for each country, they select a "price tier" and naturally it should be about the same in every country. App developers would be rightfully upset if Apple decides to give Europeans a discount.

Phew good thing my main AppleID is from the US Store. Not that I actually GET TO pay for apps anyway.
You realize that by paying in USD, your prices have already increased as the Euro weakened? ;)
The only price benefit you're getting is from evading sales tax in your country.

They included taxes last year as well. But this year the regular iPhone went up from 909€ to 1009€. Prices here have always included taxes, and that hasn’t changed. What has changed is the exchange rate €/$. Hopefully, with the raise of interest rates from Central European Bank, the € will recover its strength.

Well, it has happened before, and not only in Europe. I think it was two years ago, App Store prices in euros went down IIRC.

EDIT: Found it!
My point is price of an app cannot be 1EUR as before. Because that would make it much cheaper than us.

BTW, I haven’t paid for apps in ages. Haven’t seen good enough apps recently worth purchasing.
People always insist Apple wont drop prices in other countries when when their currencies rise against the dollar - when in reality they do do exactly that from time to time.

Yeah, but does it ever goes the other way when the EURO gets back stronger? Yeah…thought so…

Does this affect the fixed costs of services such as Apple Music, ICloud storage and AppleOne?

Interesting nothing changed for Sterling (£) which has been even weaker than the Euro in recent months.

I get that it’s a smaller market. And perhaps they are awaiting whatever the UK government is about to announce with regards to taxation before making an announcement.

Yeah, that's not going to happen.
Yup, it didn't happen previously eitehr. Back in 2008...2015?, $0.99 was 0.79eur; then, later, it increased to 0,99eur but NEVER decreased from $0.99=0.99e even with the Euro getting stronger between 2019-2021.

EDIT: found this: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...h-africa-and-many-european-countries.2306402/ - however, in Finland, I can swear for example the $299 FCP has always been 299eur in 2021 / early 2022.

EDIT 2: just checked, it's indeed 299eur here in Fi.

Thank you, Federal Reserve!
Thank you, European Central Bank!
Thank you, International Monetary Fund!

You all did an excellent job in maintaining stable monetary policies so we can now enjoy a good working economy and low inflation.

Nah, nothing is worse than the obsession Apple has with urban rap culture and music that’s shoving down our throats with every Apple event or product promotion. The whole thing is just cringe and bad acoustic for the ears.
I can't express how gleeful I am knowing that everyone enjoyed the "biggest" song during the iPhones 14/14 Plus and that nobody heard the right lyrics.

Must have really hit a nerve with a lot of Americans. 😂

All Apple does is nickel and dime now while continuously releasing half baked software and hardware now.

Most of the "nickel and dim"ing ends up with the developer. Previously, Apple would get 30 cents and the developer 69 cents (nice), and now Apple gets 36 cents, and the developer 83.
