Another good reason to get some competition on the AppStore... only Apple decides to update the prices on their side... but for eg it won't help indie devs to sell their apps if their prices rise without their own consent...

I certainly hope so! The nightmare scenario would be for Apple to simply raise prices in the US when the dollar weakens and the Euro rallies.
I would suspect these prices in both the U.K. and euro zone are partially down to recouping some of the money they’re being fined in those territories either wholly or partially . Just a thought.

I would suspect prices would be rising in all app stores to account for inflation.

I have had it since before the iPod touch days but when you sign up, all you have to do is change the region at the bottom of the page.

But in order to create an ID in a different country ,don’t u need the countries card ?
  1. Select a payment method and enter your new payment information and billing address, then tap Next. You must enter a valid payment method for your new country or region.* Learn more about how to change or remove your payment information.
Or is it only for changing an already existing account ? Are you sure you’re getting the US prices ?

Your sentence is about changing the region of an existing AppleID. I have a SEPARATE one for the US store.

Just create a new US Apple ID. Also, upon registration, you can just select "none" as a payment method.

Here is what it says on mine:

Imagine a world where you can get apps through various means. Then this announcement wouldn’t necessarily have any bearing on the price you pay for apps.
if anything they would have to put the price up, the cost of operating is way higher than apples percentage ever was

Funneled through Ireland? Isn't VAT in Ireland as high or higher than most EU countries?

The current price of a 128GB iPhone 14 in Ireland is €1,029 including VAT of €193. The Apple price is therefore actually €836 which at the current exchange rate is also $836 USD. In this case, Apple is selling the phone in Ireland for basically the same price as it is in the U.S. ($829) and Germany ($834).
I think what he was referring to is corporate taxes, Ireland is known for its much lower corporate taxes in EU. For example, corporate tax in Ireland is 12,6% while in France it is 28,4%. So Apple pays far less, ie profits much more as their EU offices are in Ireland.

Is that so? Did you check the timeline and by how much they corrected? I do not think so, so fact check that first.
Yes. And yes. Of course reductions weren’t instant, but then neither have the increases been. The € has been weak against the $ for a while now, yet only now are Apple making these changes. I don’t see any historical data to show that Apple is favouring fluctuations in either direction.

I figured it might be something like that but since they wrote "those taxes" when responding to my post about VAT, I stuck with the VAT discussion/comparison. Corporate taxes are a different animal.

I think Apple leaves the inflation aspect up to the developer to decide whether or not they want to raise prices.

Unfortunately, I don't think Apple allows developers to set different prices for the same app in different countries. The price is set in one country and automatically adjusted for currency differences, taxes, etc. in others.

Just stop the bs Rap is currently the most listened to and popular genre of music. If they were using nothing but rock or pop music would you still be complaining. They are going to use music in their events and promos there is nothing with it being rap. How in an article about Eu price increases you find away to complain about black music
Some people like that downhome Honky-tonk culture. Maybe they'd rather see rednecks taking pics of guns with their phones?

Sounds sensible to me! That's the beauty of the EU though (same principle is seen in the US with certain states offering incentives to attract businesses).

Really not a surprise. Normal behavior by business. But I don't really care about this. It's been ages since I bought anything on App store. I think I had iPhone 5s by then. First Apple ruined everything with new UI, ten all apps moved to subscription. Since I don't support subscription, nothing there is actually intresting for me to buy. I'm actually trying to reduce the amount of apps I'm using.

And most importantly, the apps I owned since beginning of the apps store is no longer working. Even if I want to download them on my old device, they still are gone. So for this sole reason I'm not buying anything. When I pay, I want to own my apps, not be dependent on some server, vendor or some stupid certificate.

There maybe some individual cases where companies have not raised their prices but for the most part everything else in Europe has increased, interest rates, inflation, food, clothing, utility bills, rents, mortages, house prices, petrol prices, insurance prices, public transport prices, retail prices, hospitality prices, why should Apple be any different.

And most importantly, the apps I owned since beginning of the apps store is no longer working.
My issue is that the apps are provided as is and if they're never updated again so be it. The few store apps I ever bought are Intel-only to this day, thankfully still working with Monterey. Recently I tried to see if there is an update for my Hue lights app that has a minor UI issue, and found that it's not even in the store anymore. If there was ever a newer version, I couldn't download it regardless. And apparently, if I hadn't restored it from a TM backup on my new 14", I couldn't even download it again since it's just gone from downloads.
