Yes, they can. And now they've made it easy for you to do it too.

Your muddying the issue drawing a similarity between Red Cross Donations and Mercy Corp for India. India is nothing more than a political maneuver in an attempt to increase sales. Apple is no Global Messanger of Empathy. Stop drinking the Kool Aid. ;)

Please, don’t insult me with the pretext that Apple is doing this to help a suffering portion of the Indian Nation. It’s about increasing iPhone sales and attempting to gain relief of the Indian Govt’s demands of monitoring/censoring all users in India on iOS. :apple:
Did you and almost everyone else on this forum forget that Apple donates to nearly every disaster relief fund, no matter where in the world it is, and regardless of if they have been successful at integrating their phones into the country? Oh but this time it must be because they want to increase iPhone sales in India. Right.

I’m surprised Apple hasn’t helped Puerto Rico and their catastrophe rather than India but I guess it’s good marketing that they’re trying to “snooze” India to excepting Apple .
I'm surprised that you didn't check to see if Apple had helped Puerto Rico before declaring that they haven't and so the donations to India must be for "marketing."

On second thought, I'm not surprised at all.

That's an odd thing to be insulted by.

I'd give your theory credit if they weren't doing this for disaster relief all the time to different countries — or is there a master plan for each of them

Too bad Apple isn't registered as a charity, we'll never find out how much actually makes it to the people.

If Apple wants to impress me they could donate their own money.

Kindof like how Trump donates his salary back to the government?

I'm guessing Apple's evil master plan is to keep everyone alive so they will be able to sell them iPhones.

Drinking too much Apple Kool Aid. I understand. It's common during this period of unprecedented Apple Financial Success. The fact that they do this "all over" is not entirely correct. The standard methodology is a link to the Red Cross on the Home Page. A link to Mercy Incorporated is something entirely different. I'd be willing to make an educated guess that the International Red Cross/Red Crescent in India sees this for what is and declined the link.

So Mercy Incorporated jumps in for the PR Event. Do some research into Mercy Incorporated. Read the fine print on where the donations distribute. ;)

Always through the International Red Cross/Red Crescent. Educated yourself on Mercy Incorporated and put the glass of Kool Aid in the sink. ;)

Be very careful with how you speculate........ :apple:

I have to say...some truly disgusting comments. Probably from the very same people who never spent a penny to help anyone. Does internet have to be a monument to the ugliness of human kind all the time? Take ANY comment sections across the news and you will see conflicts, frustration and complain, what a society.

Excellent move and thank you Apple and others already contributed. I am one of the people who is severely affected by the floods. I think almost a million people got displaced and many of them have lost everything. If you can please donate generously.

Apple today added banners to the App Store and iTunes Store on Mac and iOS devices as well as its homepage allowing customers to donate to Mercy Corps to support those who have been affected by massive flooding in Kerala, India.

Flooding began in Kerala earlier this summer with the arrival of monsoon rains, and picked up again on August 8 following days of torrential downpour. Approximately 420 people have died since the flooding began, and more than a million are living in relief camps.

Apple is allowing customers to donate to Mercy Corps using credit and debit cards that are already on file with the iTunes Store and App Store for a no-hassle donation process. Apple customers can donate $5, $10, $25, $50, $100, or $200, 100 percent of which goes to Mercy Corps.

Apple often uses the iTunes Store and App Stores to raise money for charity during major disasters. Apple recently collected money on behalf of the American Red Cross to help fight California wildfires, and Apple has also collected donations for major disasters like the 2015 Nepal earthquake, the 2013 Philippines typhoon, Hurricane Sandy in 2012, the 2011 Japan earthquake and tsunami, and the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.

Mercy Corps is a global humanitarian aid organization that says its mission is to "Alleviate suffering, poverty and oppression by helping people build secure, productive and just communities."

From the period between August 13 to August 20, Kerala received 18.5 inches of rainfall, an above average amount caused by two bands of heavy rain exacerbated by areas of low pressure in the Western Ghats mountain range, according to NASA.

Rain has started to abate this week, allowing rescue and relief operations to deal with the devastation the flooding has caused.

For those who do not want to donate through Mercy Corps and iTunes, there are other options. The government of Kerala is accepting direct money transfers and has set up a website where people can donate using credit and debit cards.

Other relief organizations working in Kerala are also accepting donations, including Oxfam India, Goonj, and Habitat for Humanity India.

Thank you very much for calling attention to this tragedy, and offering additional options for people who want to contribute — that really helps me with making a choice of who to donate to. It’s horrible that more than a million people have been displaced due to the flooding. I can’t even imagine what that would be like.
