Unfortunately, we can't change the default maps application.

Had Apple dropped their Map implementation altogether, it would be a moot point.

I use multiple Map apps these days. The choices are still there.

I'm inclined to agree. Fixes and improvements are coming way too slowly.

I'm visiting Europe at the moment and using Apple maps is very frustrating because it doesn't draw enough detail or the right details at appropriate scales. Often important features that I need like metro stations and tram lines aren't visible until you zoom in very close, at which point the features lose their context within the wider area. Apple needs to give public transport greater priority and improve its display settings significantly. Being vector based you'd think that such changes and improvements would be easy, so why is it taking so long?

They are probably working on a bigger revamp:

*sigh* missed point.

But whatever, i'm bored of the topic.

sorry what exactly is the point?

you see it as a company (whose products you like. i myself have liked them for around 25 years) giving consumers a choice. i see it as a company who seems to think they are best at everything and the fact is nobody is the best at everything. i think its just muddying the water for the consumer and since apple dosent really do cross platform then their users end up in their own cocoon and if they want to collaborate outside of that cocoon they have to use a competing product (most likely with less demanding spec requirements) which in the end kinda renders apples solution a waste of time.
