Greetings traveller! That's a long commute into Romford, Rick!
Hasn't been all that slow... Apple Maps was launched just less than three years ago yet it is currently far more superior and refined than Google Maps which has been around since 2005.
Great job, Apple.
Far superior and more refined than Google maps? You're out of your mind if you truly believe that. I have both and use both mapping apps and Google is like 80% more accurate in terms of mapping data and points of interest, as well as real-time traffic data. I cannot tell you how many times I've had to use Google maps as an emergency backup because Apple maps routed me to the wrong location. If that has honestly never happened to you, you've either been incredibly lucky, you're lying, you're trolling, or you don't actually use Apple maps. Get a grip on reality, kid.Hasn't been all that slow... Apple Maps today can't touch Google Maps from 5 years ago
But thanks for the useless fly overs Apple
That's a bit odd. I live on the edge of the Pennines/moors in an area with a very low population density, and even recent building sites show up on Google maps. Apple maps is a bit behind but the image looks nicer.
This is an interesting point. Even people who currently find Apples mapping service to have inaccurate data can't deny Apple seem to be accelerating improvements faster than Google.
They won't ever replace Google for the same reasons iMessage won't replace Hangouts.
There is a difference between flyover and 3D.Odd, the web page says Seattle is on the list but it doesn't show up, no 3D icon on the zoomed out map either.
Anyone else notice any cities missing from the list?
Seen yesterday when I was getting gas for my car, in Mukilteo, WA (which is about 25 miles north of Seattle):This is an interesting point. Even people who currently find Apples mapping service to have inaccurate data can't deny Apple seem to be accelerating improvements faster than Google.

I wish it was that good for me. Neither are perfect, but Google seems to be right more times. In a town centre a few months ago I wanted to find the nearest HMV, Apple gave me a 200 mile journey to their headquarters and Google brought up a list of nearby HMV stores. Apple Maps also frequently sends us down private roads (occasionally gated ones). Google hasn't tried that one yet!we just used apple maps for 16 hour drive from north to south of UK, with several long detours through tiny villages due to traffic and road works . apple maps works perfectly, with perfect warning on change of lanes etc. very pleased with the accuracy and design of apple maps. it has finally started to work good!
Ok. But regardless Seattle is on their list of flyover and doesn't have one. Unless it doesn't show them for your home address. There is a difference between flyover and 3D.
These cities have had flyover added, not 3D.
Flyover is the killer feature that beats Google Maps. Being a continuous UI element rather than a separate UI like StreetView, it's far more natural to navigate a city with Flyover.
My bet is that the street level mapping being done by Apple's vans will add textures to the existing Flyover model so that you can zoom in closer rather than enter into a StreetView like photography based UI.
Apple maps continues to have serious content errors including in major cities, such as San Francisco (apple's own backyard for goodness' sake). It remains so unreliable as to be effectively worthless, in my experience.

When my city was added I noted that the car that was parked at my house was the car that sold like 9 months before that date... So I guess that the job take for a while before it is released ... Obviously at least in my city

Not sure if serious... Apple maps continues to have serious content errors including in major cities, such as San Francisco (apple's own backyard for goodness' sake). It remains so unreliable as to be effectively worthless, in my experience. I generally prefer apple's solutions over google's whenever they both offer one, but this is such a mismatch I wonder why Apple is continuing to bother.
Yes I agree! It has become so superior that last weekend instead of telling me to get inside he shopping complex, it made me do a whole circle around shopping complex and then said I am at the destination!Hasn't been all that slow... Sure. Tried to get from a side street to the freeway and was directed to a dead end that was, admittedly, bordering the freeway, but with no access. This was an the commercial area south of Potrero hill. That's surprising. Can you provide a current example in San Francisco?
