I wish it was that good for me. Neither are perfect, but Google seems to be right more times. In a town centre a few months ago I wanted to find the nearest HMV, Apple gave me a 200 mile journey to their headquarters and Google brought up a list of nearby HMV stores. Apple Maps also frequently sends us down private roads (occasionally gated ones). Google hasn't tried that one yet!

But I like that both are improving. Only a year ago Apple Maps was absolutely useless where I live, it didn't even have my road marked on it!

i agree with you. no, for store locations etc, apple map is not good at all. it will take some time.
it works very well for long distance. apple maps had this timing problem, asking u to change lanes when u r already committed.. now that problem is gone. quite like it.

As I've said in other threads, Apple Maps has the housing estate where I live, on satellite view, from 6 months ago. Google Maps shows it as fields, which was over 10 years ago. There's been numerous reports to Google over the last 8 years alone, but still Google show it wrong. So to all those people whinging about Apple Maps being crap compared to Google Maps, explain that................... :p

Google maps is very outdated and incorrect. I hope Apple continues to do the street view at least once every 3 years.

My former house still shows the address being 6 or 7 homes closer to the corner than it is. I reported this multiple times each year and was never fixed. Google's response was, we try to keep our maps accurate as possible but unfortunately there may be map data that doesn't coincide with the actual turn-by-turn gps data. What Google?

My current house shows what the property looked like 7+ years ago.

As time goes on Google Maps will continue to get worse and worse because they are not putting the resources into it. Maybe at this time they don't care because Apple is doing it. They figure people will just accept it for a few more years until Google wants to invest in updating their maps again in 2020.

Street level laser radar mapping will fix this last remaining quirk about flyover. Combining aerial mapping with the cars now mapping cities from the road will give us a photo realistic view of cities from all angles and enable you to zoom in from the sky right into a street level store front. It's going to blow people away.

Totally agree. Data has gotten WAY better for me since launch, and errors are fixed within 5 business days (in my experience). I can't remember the last time I opened Google Maps. Never say never...

I only mean because Apple Maps is iOS and OS X only. Like iMessage, it's a feature to improve Apple products, not an independent service like Apple Music, which is cross platform.

If Apple put maps on the web, or made a Windows/Android version, it would be interesting to see how usage changed.
