Mine keeps saying it needs to be rebooted. From my experience...these don't support HomeKit. Not yet, anyway.
Same issue here. I bought them Saturday and even while the firmware update adds support for HomeKit, the app keeps asking me to reboot the network to enable HomeKit. Not a great first experience.

I still can't believe Apple bailed on the whole line of Airport gear.

It's such a bad experience to be hawking these random kits to your customers.

Absolutely un-Apple like, to the core.
This truly is a "Steve wouldn't have done this" situation

Just returned my ax4200 3 pack. Went through 3 software versions, 2 with HomeKit support. First software update my iOS devices couldn’t keep connected and the next update my macs would constantly dip out and the whole network would reboot every 20 min. or so.

I just replaced with an eero 6 that I will also be returning. The HomeKit support is fine and the network is stable, but I max out at 160Mbps when the mesh nodes are connected. Come to find out the max speed when you have all nodes connected is 500Mbps. What’s the point of having fiber and Wi-Fi 6 at all with this thing?

I’m returning today for the Asus xt8 system. I’ll forgo HomeKit support for stability and to get the full speed I pay my isp for.
Ha, I was just about to return my Asus xt8 system. I was only getting 190mps from the node and it drops half the time. Was thinking of giving the node an ethernet to see if that helps. It has been a pain.

I'm still running multiple Airport Extremes (wifi 5, 802.11ac) that are sharing from Ethernet.... and I never drop off and as long as they are faster than my Internet connection, I won't be updating. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Same here. I have 3 around the house plus a time capsule. I have one on standby if one breaks but after several years so far so good. I may never need it. I'm missing out on the new tech but still see over 300mps up/down so really not missing out. All are cable connected with home runs back to my main router and only work as APs. My routing and firewall is managed by commercial gear.

Ditto. One Extreme and two pucks all hardwired.

I called Linksys today. They recommended deleting, then re-installing the app. I had already done that, and it didn't work. Next recommendation was to do a factory reset. I haven't tried that, yet.

Routers are so 2020. Or maybe I’m just a low tech user. One thing I hated about cable internet was having a static space the router had to be. I got rid of my xFi and 6 pods and went with a T-Mobile router that I can place in the middle of my two store home with direct access to a window. This “50 mbps“ router is giving me speeds near 150 and 30 upload when I was on a 1 gig plan from xfinity getting about 30 down and 6 up. And I’m paying less than half the price every month.
Nice - got one for my Dad and he was only getting 30 down. So, not T-Mobile not mainstream 5g everywhere yet. Will be nice when they are.

Apple recently added several new products and accessories to its online store, including the Linksys Velop AX4200 mesh Wi-Fi 6 system, with one node priced at $249.95, a two-pack priced at $399.95, and a three-pack priced at $499.95.

Mesh technology offers whole home Wi-Fi coverage that is easily expandable by adding additional nodes, with Wi-Fi 6 offering faster speeds with lower latency compared to Wi-Fi 5, which was previously known as 802.11ac. HomeKit support, which rolled out with a software update last week, allows the AX4200 nodes to be managed through the Home app on iPhone, iPad, and Mac, complete with improved network security options.

Apple is also now selling Logitech's trackpad/keyboard case for the fourth-generation iPad Air, with key features including Smart Connector pairing, an adjustable kickstand, auto-adjusting backlit keys, and a cutout for charging the second-generation Apple Pencil without removing the case. The keyboard is available in gray for $199.95.

Nanoleaf, known for its range of smart lighting panels, recently launched new HomeKit-enabled "Elements Wood Look" hexagon lights with a wood grain veneer designed to offer a more natural lighting experience that blends in better with home decor and creates a cozy ambiance in the room. Apple is now carrying these lights for $299.95.

Other accessories added to Apple's online store include various protective cases and sleeves for the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, and AirPods Pro, as well as Belkin's wall-mounted Wemo Stage Scene Controller that allows you to control smart lights, shades, thermostats, door locks and other HomeKit-enabled accessories.

The AX4200 routers *DO NOT SUPPORT HOMEKIT*!!! I have tried multiple times, even resetting the routers completely after the updates (supplied by Linksys) and it consistently tells me I "need to reboot the routers" and no, thats not it!

Linksys needs to get back to work on this one, and dont hype features that dont work!

Maybe this is why Apple dropped out of routers.
It's too frustrating to support HomeKit correctly!

Who makes Homekit?

Oh....crap..

I currently have Linksys Mesh router and it took almost 2 years for HomeKit support even though it was sold as supporting HK. Linksys technical support is horrible and their updates are rife with bugs. The only thing that made my current Linksys usable was turning off auto firmware updates and not installing the firmware that enables HK support.... everyone that did experienced constant problems. Check out the Linksys communities to see what I mean.

I would suggest going with another brand.

You are better off using Ubiquiti hardware. It might be a tad more complex to set-up, but it's way more reliable and much better quality than this garbage. I bought the Linksys Velop for my mother-in-law and what a regret that was!

Same here, AirPort Extreme still works well, I need only one for the entire house and have a strong signal everywhere. The announcement probably underlines that Apple is not going to make new routers anytime soon or at all.
Ditto. Two AirPort Extremes - one Wi-Fi over Ethernet covers more than my 628 square metres of property. If I had no AirPort Extremes, I would be more tempted to upgrade. Imagine, as said earlier, if Apple took ownership of TP Link, the AirPort Extremes they would create.

Wow, everyone on MacRumors never seem to be able to get their products to work.

I’ve got two of these, and the HomeKit update went flawlessly.

Updating from my Airport/Time Capsule setup has made everything quite amazing. Basically everything was boosted. Range. Speed. Security.

And I got two nodes on Amazon Warehouse for $220 about 4 months ago. Never seen these at that crazy price since.

I hear you. Day 1 in to my ownership and things are working great for me. Didn’t mess with HomeKit yet though. Not sure why that matters on a router.

I was going to go with an Amplifi setup but I figured if Apple is confident enough to sell Linksys then they can’t be all that bad.

They've been initially confident in selling a few things which have been or will be removed from their store, the most recent being the Logitech doorbell due to overheating. I would love a Homekit router that is guaranteed to remain that way but until they make their own router again I just don't see this taking off.

Setup is easy. There is a prompt to update the firmware. After updating, you are prompted to add to HomeKit. Just takes a tap. You stopped there? Didn't tap "Let's Do It"? Doesn't sound believable. Just saying.
