After having TWO Power Mac G5's delivered to me bent out of shape, it's good to see non-barbarians are taking control in some of the shipping of these machines.

Adults use a mailbox service such as "The UPS Store". Problem solved.

They professionally manage all my incoming mail/packages. Everything is recorded, signed-for, dry, never lost, etc etc.

Unless of course you like to complain in life about these 'first world' issues.

Finally! UPS sucks so much!

Vowed to never use a UPS store again. Paying just to hold my package makes absolutely no sense, and the whole UPS chain is just a rip-off. Just try to make a claim for insurance of damaged product. Have to wait the first unsuccesful delivery attempt to makean address change. Last, their automated phoning system has apparently mixed up tracking numbers and I was tracking another customer's package. This was just new crap on top of old one, meaning falsification of tracking data (yes, they did that on a previous package).

Adults rely on plain old postal service. Everything is tracked, dry, rarely lost. You just have to come with a piece of ID to the postal office if it couldn't fit in the building mailbox.

I live in Europe, in August I'm visiting NY. Is it possible for me to buy a refurbished (r)mbp online(since they did not update the mbp at WWDC, I'd go for a refurbished :()?
I'd choose the ship to store option, but here's the deal; how long will my product stay at the store? Because I believe I have to pay in advance? Will it stay in the store until I pick it up?

Say I see a good deal next week, I order it. Will it still be available for me to pick up in the first week of August? Or do I have to wait until the end of July/begin August, hope for a good refurbished machine and then order it?

Thanks in advance

I want to do the same. I'm in Florida 10th April for just over a week. How long will the Apple store keep an item for me? I want a Mac Mini but they don't appear in the refurbished items all the time.

Many thanks,
Ian

I seem to remember having one week to pick it up from the original promised date (it arrived early) on a refurbished MBP I bought 2 years ago. If one appears this week you should be OK.
