Yeah this is why I sell on eBay and Swappa instead of doing trade-ins. I can't stomach how bad they screw us over. eBay and Swappa have been extremely slow, but I was able to get a decent price for my 15 Pro Max and 16" M3 Max MBP. It just took months and months.

I ended up getting > $200 more via eBay for the phone, and 2x the price for the MBP via eBay.
I actually got a good trade-in value from Apple on my old M1 Air early last year. They were doing some kind of promo and I think I got something like $550 for it, which was on par with what I was finding equivalent sold items for on eBay.

The one thing I will say in favor of the Apple trade-in is that it’s very fast and easy -- but I always make sure to bring it in to an Apple Store to head off the kind of weirdness I’ve heard about with their mail-in appraisal (3rd party) service.

My M1 Ultra MacStudio was purchased just after release for around $7,500. Apple was so sure of their products value that they offered a $1,500 trade-in value year later when the M2 came out. If that is not enough to get one upset, they were selling the refurbs for over $6,000. Apple gets the cash and the customer gets the shaft.

I am still using that device and it works just fine with it's 128GB Ram and 8TB SSD on my Adobe and other commercial photo processing software.

Apple can keep their new subscription stuff at the end of the month. I was burned by their false advertising of AI readiness and the need to buy an iPhone 16 to use their AI that NEVER was made or completed for the public customer base. I do NOT believe one word of their advertising on the proposed subscription except of the part where they collect the money. Whether it works or not the customer finds out AFTER they pay Apple.

Will definitely NOT be an early adopter of Apple vaporware again.

Wish they would get the operating system spot on operationally before release instead having ALL of their customers be beta testers for every version.

You buy components and devices at higher prices [because of artificial intelligence] while Apple buys back your Apple devices at a lower cost.
The aftermarket is definitely better than these prices. Pretty sure I could still get around $400 for my AWU 1st Gen.
