That matte screen looks tasty!

Now just give that to me on a 24" iMac along with a Blu-Ray burner!

I think Apple should probably make mention of the design difference, though...

They have had a pic of the AntiGlare uMBP up since the 17" was first introduced back in January. Why would the 15" be any different?

I'd be tempted to replace my new 13" MBP if apple released a revised model with
1) the matte screen and
2) an express card slot

What else would you want added? What would get you to make the change?

I won't buy a MBP until apple adds dedicated graphics option to the 13" model.

I'm hoping to hold out until they replace the superdrive with Blu-ray. I'm not holding my breath, but it's going to happen eventually. Currently on an '06 first-gen core duo 15" MBP which is growing increasingly painful to use.

Damn, and here I thought my 2.16GHz early 2007 Macbook with the GMA950 integrated graphics was painful to use.

Ditto. 13", matte, expresscard and dedicated GPU - sold.

Aye, you're on the money. I'd even drop the optical drive for a bigger battery and/or dual graphics. [MBA just not flexible enough, yet...]

Agreed. No optical drive and dedicated gpu while having 4Gb+ RAM and proper (as in 2.5") harddrive upgradeability, all power with reasonable portability. This seems like a product that could get me interested in buying one of their computers again.

Not that I'm holding my breath though... :D

I'm pretty pissed off at Apple.

I got my screen dented a few months back and have held off replacing the screen a number of reasons. I then hear the news about the Matte screen coming back so I went to an Apple Store to get an updated quote.

Of one the "geniuses" told me that they cannot fit a matte screen onto my Unibody MBP. That is ****ing bollocks. I paid nearly £2500 for this MBP and they can't even fit a replacement matte screen on it?

Sure they can. It'd involve simply removing the whole screen casing (i.e. just taking it off the hinge) and putting in a matte screen casing.

All that would cost you nearly £900 though.

What are your specs if it costed you £2500?

So you're never buying an MBP, then?

Reality check: they won't add dedicated graphics to the 13". Given the thermal design limits, and battery limits, it's not feasable. Plus, the 9400M is a very capable chip, comparing in performance to *my* dedicated X1600 in my Core Duo MBP. The 9400M is actually not useless like the previous Intel graphics.

As a fellow first-gen 2006 MBP owner, may I ask what's so painful? I was actually thinking to myself that this machine is easily going to last me another two years unless the hardware fails.

Sure, LED backlighting would be nice (yay brighter screens using less energy!), as would the long battery life. But other than that, my 2GHz Core Duo with 2GB RAM provides a happy, speedy existence.

I'm genuinely curious what makes your experience so "painful". Is it the three-year-old graphics? That's one gripe I'd understand, not being able to play the latest games and all...

I'm also kind of curious. I've been toughing it out with my 12 inch Powerbook, nearing it's 6th year, and it's missing the delete key. I really need to upgrade, but I don't want the damn glossy screen. I'm *considering* the 15 inch simply because my poor Powerbook is on her last legs of life, and I need to move on. But at 5'2, the 13 incher is much more portable than the 15. The 15 just seems huge to me! Come onnnn Apple, I can't wait much longer!

As a side note, I went into an Apple store in Salt Lake City while I was there, to ask a few questions, and the teenage boy in the store didn't even know what a Powerbook was. He had no clue, and no answers for me on the questions I had (like transferring data from this older model to a newer one when I get it).... I ended up just walking out. I'm hoping that the folks at the Apple store in Vancouver are a bit more knowledgeable than that, now that I'm back at home.

Too sad the rest of the nVidia-chipset seems to be crappy as usual though. RAM and SATA troubles amongst other things that never appears on Intel's stuff. Not surprising though if you know their (nVidia/nForce) history on the PC side of things... :p

Hmm... good graphics or stable system and safe data, what to do? what to do?

Finally bought my MacBook Pro

I've been waiting several years to replace my powerpc ibook. Never liked glossy so I kept holding off. Now with the antiglare option added, I finally bought the MBP 15 inch tonight online. Saved up the cash too, so no debt, thank God. Can't wait for it to arrive now. :)

Or in store for the high-end model.

The 3-4 stores that I've been in here don't have matte available, BTO interwebs only. I guess they don't want people to see how awesome matte screens can be ;)

13" Matte MBP please! Techrestore now offer the option for the MBP13, so they are sourcing the right LCDs from *somewhere*

Macbook Pro 17 Matte

Hey guys!!
I am new here and did not know how to create my own forum.
But anyways here is the story.
My friend got a brand new Macbook Pro 17 Anti-glare from his company and did not want it, it was still sealed when i bought it from him, now when i got home opened it up and realize that it is the anti glare one which i do not really prefer on my opinion because i am not professional and i am an indoor movies and gaming type of person.
Is there anyway i can exchange this to one of the Apple retail store without the receipt.?

Thanks in advance.
