Ironic. I accidentally deleted my entire iTunes library and I can't restore it from a backup or time machine because of Apple Music.

What, like perhaps sterilise humans, to stop them breeding and infesting the planet?
Just as WE would with any other animal that act in the way humans do.

Or course, WE won't do that, as we are selfish humans, but an AI can see the bigger picture and start dealing with the Human Problem.

Seeing the bigger picture doesn't necessarily equate to a change in behavior? Dealing with a perceived "human problem" might only be justifiable through self-gain (whether real or perceived.) It may or may not be based on a long-term plan that goes any further than self preservation.

Should strong AI with the level of awareness needed to make such a decision ever be created, there is no reason to expect that it will not act primarily or solely in its best self interest in a shorter-term perspective, even with the ability to accurately predict a long-term outlook.

Humans are capable of seeing the bigger picture. Many actively choose not to and to deny what the eventual outcome of our behaviors will be without change. This includes some of the smartest individuals in history.

The solution to the human problem could be to eradicate any and all all living life forms on earth by rendering the entire planet completely sterile.

In the future we're gonna be so lazy we'll need reminders to get up and go to the bathroom at the optimal time

Yuk. Our smart devices are already making us dumber. This won't make humans better. And as for remembering every part of our lives. Some things and people we want to forget. Soon we'll be the drones and Idiocracy will be view as a prescient documentary rather than a half-assed spoof.

Unfortunately, Cook's obsession with privacy will cripple Apple's attempts in this space, just like it is with Siri vs. Google.

I might as well have access to what goes on in my life. Since I carry around a smart phone, all my internet interactions are available to the service providers and the government upon request. And I'm probably recorded by cameras and sensors every time I'm in public. I'm the only one who doesn't know what I was doing at 8:48 AM, on 24 October 2015.

And while I'm not opposed to having access to a device that will keep a journal of my life, I'd rather it be an open sourced framework.

Geez, should I bother with this news? Every 10-12 months I give Siri another try, and each time it fails so miserably that I laugh a bit and move on [to the google voice recognition]. I've been an Apple fan for ab out 35 years now, but the Siri is a joke a major JOKE!

Apple's stance on privacy is nothing more than hypocritical mullarky

Thank you for all the people that are reminding everyone that Siri isn't perfect...

I almost forgot about it...

Google stance on privacy hasn't help on anything.

They are barely better than Siri.

You don't need to give all your photos to check the weather.

Can I make it forget about my ex-girlfiend for me?

Gruber imagines that this kind of technology will not only be useful for satisfying data geeks who want to optimize their health and happiness, but it could also assist those who suffer from diseases like dementia and schizophrenia.
In all seriousness, it's possibly useful for those two cases, but I see no need for it myself.

All the big tech companies are traveling down the same AI road, but I don’t think any have stopped to ask if people want this in their personal lives. As far as I can tell, most do not. I keep Siri turned off, and always will, but there is no way for me to know if it is truly off. Perhaps it has only stopped interacting with me, and continues to analyze my private information without my consent. The Photos app is still spying on my photos like a creepy neighbor peeking in my windows. Turning Siri off didn’t put an end to that, so I don’t have photos on my phone anymore. My camera goes unused, day in and day out, and I wonder how much of my money has been wasted on that famous piece of gadgetry. It just sits there… all day long… doing nothing at all… or does it? I think it’s watching me now. I want to put it in a box, but I’m afraid.

I have a problem with this blanket statement. There is a reason we forget things - it's to prevent things like depression and sadness. If we were able to remember every.single.thing. about every single person in our lives, it would be a mess.

IMHO, it is good that we forget some things and if we allow computers to remember everything about every person we met, instead of selectively choosing, by our own accord and powers, life would become even more difficult and chaotic than it already is.

Just my 2 cents...

Agree. That is how we, humans are born. This vision will create a generation of lazy people that don´t even have to try to remember things or people or names. We were given a brain that works in a way, and some people want to change that without even fully understand the extend of our capacity, maybe is because we are so ignorant about ourselves that we call them "human failings".
