I have a Denon AVR3300w AVR connected to my home surround sound system. It sounds great. However, my hearing isn’t what it used to be and I would like to use my Apple AirPods (bluetooth) while at the same time simultaneously allowing others to listen via the existing surround sound speakers. As well, I desire a separate volume control for the AirPods. Can this be done and, if so, what do I need to accomplish this.

You might want to check on a Denon forum somewhere but it doesn't look like AVRs typically do simultaneous speaker/BT output.

You didn't mention ATV, but it doesn't look like ATV can do this, either.

You might find some convoluted way to do this if your AVR3300w has two zones. Second zone would have to go into another device that then routes output to BT that would then connect to your AirPods.

Good luck!

Theres an iPhone accessibility option for use with AirPods, whereby the iPhone amplifies the sounds (from the direction you point your phone at), which might do the trick for you ?
