But the mat looks like crap then with something sticking out of it. if you want a completely flush mat that works with the watch it’s thicker than what other companies have done.
I think this looks much better personally.

Do people actually want this? I charge airpods at my desk, once a week or so. I charge my phone on a wireless charging pad overnight, along with my apple watch. I use nightstand mode on my apple watch as a clock, so right away - the apple watch charging becomes useless to me.

I guess it would be better for traveling in some ways...but barely. I already carry a USB-C charging hub with multiple ports for charging laptop + iPad + phone + watch, so this only saves you if you need to charge all three while traveling, and want to only carry one power adapter...and also don't want to charge an iPad/mac.

Anyone know how this thing is gonna work with sport loops? I know you can invert the band, but the edges of the band still kind of push up on the watch. I'm not sure if it'll sit flat enough to charge. Anyone have a knock off version that they've had success with?

Yeah, this won't work for me because I only use sport loops.

Great news!

I’ve had the Hard Cider product for over a year now (ordered the day Apple announced AirPower was cancelled).

It does the job but aligning AirPods is a challenge. Also the indentation for the Watch seems too shallow and sometimes it “pops” up off the magnet and stops charging overnight.

Typical third-party issues, which I’d be happy to solve by buying an Apple version. Plus my family has so many devices that charge wirelessly now, a few 3-devices mats around the house would be convenient and they frequently use (as long as they each support at least one Watch).

For $250, the thing you are paying for is all the R&D it would has cost Apple. I expect they lost quite a bit of money from all the attempts.

I could maybe see myself being interested in this, but how would this work with the link bracelet band? Do they expect people to take the band off every night?

no, they expect you not to use this if your band doesn’t un-loop.

They changed the Milanese loop a few years back to allow it to pull open in preparation for this thing, fwiw.

I generally can see the appeal of such a product, but the limitations of speed in wireless charging limits my interest.

The complexity of this is kinda mind boggling and reminds me of the HomePod all over again. There are plenty of cheaper options already in the market and just my opinion, I like having a dedicated charger for a device. Specific purpose.

Now talk to me when you get AirPower technology going on something bigger like a table.
