Surprised about the A11, would have thought the A12 would be cheaper with the economy of scale from the vast number of products its used in (vs just a set of now-discontinued iPhones!)

I use the Slicecharge Pro by HardCiderLabs. It works perfectly! I can charge my Apple Watch, AirPods Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max all at once with only one cable going to the charging mat.

Here is my problem with a charging mat like this. It doesn't work with the watch. Sure the picture has one charging on it, but the default watchband that comes with an Apple Watch will not allow it to sit that flat. Also, you can't see your phone or watch displays when laying in bed. A better solution is to prop it up and have a special charging spot for the watch so it can make contact with the surface of the charging coil. Much like this one. I own a similar one but am planning on getting this as it is a little lower profile.

I paid £25 for a 4 pad multi charger in IKEA in the UK. No heat given off whatsoever.
I only see a triple pad charger on their site for £40.

As for Tim's magical Airpower, I think I'd rather give 250 notes to charity than waste it on this ridiculously priced gimmick. Should have left it in its vapourware grave instead of exhuming it nearly 3 years later.

Hard to imagine the power of an A11 chip just to manage a charging mat!

That's like putting an i7 CPU in a microwave oven to run the timer and monitor the auto-cooking modes!

I wonder if this could be a hint that the HomePod could move up to an A11? I think it's on an A8 and it would make sense to upgrade everything to the A11 and stop making the other chips.

This thread seems to be missing the: "I won't get it without it using an A14 based chip and 16gb of ram", posts...

I’m LOL’ed hardly when read this from computer guys perspective. But this true, using powerful chips to regulate heats, probably leaving rest of physical cores unused.

In A11 case, they have two cores high performance and four cores energy efficient. Using all six cores simultaneously sure overkill. Apple might create some of under clocked A11 variant for this charging mat.

You've got to be kidding me. And with the A11 inside, it's not going to be cheap. I'll stick to my $20 anker that does just fine. Weird that it doesn't overheat without the A11.

My body is ready for the charging mat faster than any lagdroid phone on the market.

What are the chances, if true, that this would be a hint that an updated base iPad would have the A11 in it this fall? As others said it’s not in mass production now, but if they bumped up the base to the A11, Air to an A13/A14, and the Pro to the A14X they might have a lot of A11s to throw around. They could even use only the poorly binned chips on this and save the good ones for the base iPad or even an updated Touch.

Estimated $250 for a charging pad!? That's ridiculous. Maybe $99. I can get a knock off wireless charge for $10 at Walmart. I get that this is much more advanced tech, but come on. It's a device with a single function and it's really only useful to people that have a phone, watch, and AirPods. $250 will get laughed out of the market.

250! 😂 and with A11? This better balance out all the **** of 2020.. one half core from A11 must be overkill for this.

If it charges everything I put close to it with 30+ watts I’m in.. phone, iPad, Watch, AirPods around it and Glasses on top of it. Also with all that power under the hood I better get a complete app for controlling charge rates, battery wear and health, notifications with minute details about when devices will be charged up.

It’s interesting that an A11 can reduce heat in something like this but the T2 (A10) has done nothing for heat output in a MacBook.

And yes, it’s sarcasm.

Think we're seeing the first signs of this. iOS 14 beta gives you a notification when Watch and AirPods are charged
