Not as popular as many expected. The black models are all still available for delivery on November 2nd. I thought all of them would sell out in a few hours and certainly by now, almost 4pm Eastern time.

I guess it depends on the amount of stock they have initially, it's impossible to predict. Having said that it's going to be practically impossible to beat the iPhone 5 sales!

Didn't preorder yet. want the white, but will wait to get them from macmall...no tax.

i'm confused.. does this mean they wont have any at the Apple stores on 11-2?

They will. They only give online like a third of the units, if that, for the preorders

Actually they could be as popular but way more units were made

I ordered 3:04am Toronto Time via the iPhone app - 16gb White/wifi, mine says it will deliver Nov 21.... But my Mini smart cover is currently preparing for shipment?... wtf.

The smart cover wasn't a pre-order. Those ship before the actual iPad mini.

I know, it's strange.

I know this is the Mac forum, however the mini is a joke. It seems like Apples quick and dirty attempt to match the market and see what interest there is.

Needless to say, people would buy a polished turd if it was Apple branded and their analysts should know that. The tech is already there and in smaller form, they could have ended with a device that contained a lot more oomph, bang for the buck and most importantly ... LONGEVITY!

Apple won't fully support 2 year old tech for long, I see a quick refresh and so unhappy early adopters.

Did it ever occur to you for a split second that people have their own reasons for buying an iPad Mini irrespective of what logo is on the device? Just because you think it's **** it doesn't mean everyone else does...I respect your reasons for not liking it so why not show a little maturity and appreciate that others have their dislikes and likes.

No thanks. Saving money for a Surface Pro.

In that case you're on the wrong site, I suggest you go to MicrosoftRumors.com

I wanted an iPad that was a lot bigger than a phone but not so heavy and borderline-portable as the full sized iPad. I also wanted something a bit cheaper.

So the Mini ticks all my boxes.

Why the negativity over what other people buy? Nobody said you have to buy one.

I ordered one for a Christmas present for my Dad, because he wants an iPad but wants a smaller screen.

What's wrong with that?

iPad with Retina display Wi-Fi 32GB - Black - Preparing for shipment
iPad mini with Wi-Fi 16GB - Black & Slate - Processing Items

Same order too! Weird!!!

This is the point of the Mini for me too. If you want an iPad and either want a smaller screen, or want something less than $399, then this is a good deal.

If you don't care about it being an iPad, then you have options from Google, Amazon, and even Microsoft now.

We need to let people buy what they want to buy, and quit complaining about their decisions. No one tablet is right for everyone, any more than any one computer is right for everyone.

Is MacMall still doing no sales tax? I thought I saw something that they were starting to charge sales tax now...

This is pretty-much exactly my reasoning. Weight is definitely the biggest factor for me. If they were able to make a 9.7" iPad that was 300g, I'd be getting that. But this looks like a great way to fit what I use my iPad for (web surfing, email, giving presentations, light app usage) in a much more portable form.

Rumor?

How is Apple processing orders a "Rumor" remotely worth reporting on?
What is next?
"Apple uses forklift to move iPad Mini boxes toward loading dock" ??

macorderupdate.com is what this site should be called. We can all expect another front page article about the first people doing unboxings of their iPad minis as well.

No matter what they post you folks bitch! Geez, why don't you start you own freaking forum. If you aren't bitching you aren't happy it seems!

As I mentioned to someone else who made a similar comment...you don't have to read it...
