Family Plan AT&T

It is true. I had a 4S stolen last week, returned service temporarily to my 3G and yesterday went to pre-order the 5. Was not eligible for the upgrade price....so, I added a line, ordered a iPhone 5 and when the phone comes in they will assign it to my current number. Yes, it will cost $10 a month and over the 2 year period will add up to the same, but up front cost is lower and now there will be three phones in play and likely one will always be available for upgrade. Oh, and AT&T gave me a $200 credit because they were not able to override the early upgrade deal.....win, win

I have two lines on a family plan. My little brother always gets my hand-me-down iPhone, and I pay for his line. Out of our two lines, his is always eligible for upgrade pricing, because he's always using the older phone.

I was told by an AT&T rep today that I can order and get the full upgrade discount by using his line's number when I order, and when the phone arrives, I can call them to activate it, but have them activate it using my line/phone number.

Does anyone have experience doing this, and does it ring true? I guess you give them your IMEI over the phone, tell them which of your lines/numbers you want associated with it, and they push the activation through and tie it to the number you've specified?

I live in Kiev, where there is no real chance of getting an iPhone at even the european prices on release day. However I have people who I work with in the USA including all my family that can get me a phone. It is just the issue of getting it and when it will be available...

Shipping electronics here is not really an option.

Sorry for answering so late but have you tried borderlinx (borderlinx.com)? Got my iPhone 4 that way from England because we haven't had unlocked ones yet. Took them 2 weeks to ship though because they where so overwhelmed with the demand, but that should be better now since a lot of people can get unlocked iPhones easily now.

Thanks for the Idea. That looks like an awesome service. It unfortunately does not support Ukraine. I can sent DHL and UPS here but security for non-documents is always in question.

I am looking to a co-worker who will be visiting from the UK to carry a phone for me. That's usually the most secure and safe option.
