Just for anybody stuck on the Apple online store.

Chrome wouldn't load the Apple store at all
Firefox got me through straight away and i placed my order.

I did it with apple...I order throught the app store like at the first 40 seconds...change the shipping address under account info/order ....got an emailed for buying and one for changing the address. and its updated now to my address.

Thank you for the info. Placed order but now when I try to change shipping address it says, "Your order is being processed. Please try again shortly. To make changes to your default shipping information, go to Your Account."

Assuming that's because of the high volume of traffic right now?

I was able to get in pretty quickly using the iPhone app, and would have probably placed my order in no time,

BUT they won't let you change your default shipping address, even if you switch it under your Apple ID account info! I think it's probably tied to your AT&T account. I don't know, but I had it shipped to my parents house which is 200+ miles away.

I'm trying to edit the shipping information through the email they sent me once they order has been placed, but it is still not letting me. And I'm also afraid to mess with anything for fear that they'll end up shipping it very late.

FYI if anyone has a Discover card they give 5% extra cash back on all Apple Store online purchases.

www.shopdiscover.com

This was why I wanted to use the site and not the app, failed to get in with Firefox and Chrome but then Safari got me through to order.

Still one of the biggest scams in history. It's like charging regular price tax on clearance items. Yet I have paid this ridiculous tax multiple times.

Not really, since the price we pay is subsidized by Apple and AT&T.

Some states, like CA, charge you tax on the full retail ($650) price.

Will this be the case if we walk in the store? I just ordered through the App store and wanted to change the shipping address to my new addy in LA. Now I almost want to cancel it and walk into the store and buy it if they are charging us tax on the full unsubsidized price?

With the high volume of orders it is taking them a long time to actually process orders. The confirmation email you get is really more of a placeholder to help with the volume before going back and processing each order.

Yep, always the case from subsidized (phones for the most part) products in CA, from any provider (ATT, Verizon, Sprint, Apple), no matter where you buy it from.

I lost my unlimited data with Verizon :(.

Does anyone know exactly how this works? Will I get a prorated portion of the 2GB on the day I activate the phone, or do I need to begin conserving data now?

Alright! YAY! Screw ATT.com. Apple Store did it in 2 minutes!
Ordered 2 iPhone 5! YEAAAA!!!!
And it says: "Avilable to ship: Delivers 9/21"
Wooooo!

Everyone should just go to Apple Store.com and get it done with instead of walking behind ATT! =D

Verizon has said they will not allow grandfathered unlimited. However ATT has allowed it. Verizon has been saying this since...forever now =/

I think I read something awhile back that said VZW was going to force people to change data plans. I know AT&T allows you to keep it if you have it though.

stimated Tax
The sales tax listed on the order history page is only an estimate. The final total sales tax will be reflected on your invoice and will include state and local sales taxes, as well as any applicable rebates or fees. In CA and RI sales tax is collected on the unbundled price of the iPhone.

Not Massachusetts.

Ordering through an upgrade on another phone but it's not a smart phone, anybody know if I can just cancel that data plan once the phone gets here and use the unlimited data I currently have?

No way to avoid it, so pretty much!

Right lol. Once the order is processed I should still be able to change the shipping address right? Because if it gets processed and I'm charged, how would they make up for the new tax or does it recharge the card automatically to reflect the new state and taxes?
