Why does anyone need covid-19 tracing for this? A few months to make an api and roll it out just to track someone. Just make a call to one of the three cell carriers and get them to send you real time location feeds based on tower location. Triangulation should help narrow down actual coordinates.

This is much more precise than what is possible with triangulation, and also scalable in the sense that your phone will keep track of all phones that it sees, as opposed to just keeping track of your location and then having to look up some massive database that tracks the location of everyone.

I'm not in favor of this though. As these privacy invading technologies infiltrate our lives, it will be misused in ways we cannot even imagine now. With the amount of data they have now, most of these companies know more about us than we do about ourselves, because they are able to see our unconscious biases and they have infinite memory.
