I was waiting for a response like that.

Reality is the freedoms from the Constitution makes the USA and other western countries stronger, more adaptable and less centralized.

Unlike China that has deaths squads patrolling in the open killing off political opponents, the USA is a free-for-all with a web of decentralized power in private sectors in free market competition.

There is no one "central parity" controlling the direction here. The USA has multiple "Big Uncles" in rivalry instead of one Big Brother as in China's Orwellian state.

Oh, God.. Can you name one person Chinesa government killed political opponents recently?

Calling you out. You are no more Chinese than my Smith & Wesson. See, me can be typing like that also too. Want to make a point here? Then stand behind it.

Cheap.

How do you know I am not Chinese?

I hope that one day 1.3 billion Chinese people can experience a freer internet without government monitoring and censorship, just like the ones we have in the US.... well, except the NSA and FBI reading emails and asking Apple to hand over master keys to encryption, of course.

I'm sure that's why Tim Cook is preferring to assist China and bend over backwards to educate their workers, all while taking corporate welfare and having his lobbyists to help write the tax laws and other things he tells us he hates. (In other words, he doesn't give one whit about either country unless it's for his benefit. For-profit entities should stay out of government jus tas much s governments should stay out of the free market.)

If the Chinese government continues down this path, we may see the day when Apple products and probably products from other companies/countries will no longer be manufactured nor sold in China. Maybe I'm wrong and companies like Apple will continue their delicate dance with the devil because the alternative wouldn't be good for their bottom line.

Assuming that is the real reason companies went to China to begin with. But that leads to a tinfoil hat theory, albeit not a simple one... or even a bad one, oddly enough! But tinfoil theories are one thing. Occam's Razor prevailing, it's all about getting the cheapest cheese (then blaming everyone else for "forcing" them to move when, having eaten the cheese, one ends up with a stomachache.)
[doublepost=1463488160][/doublepost]Also consider, thanks to the media -

When good company articles come out, that is when they are labeled "multinational companies".

When bad company articles come out, that is when they are labeled "American companies".

In short, they want it both ways. I wonder which version other countries ultimately believe these companies are loyal to. America should not be scapegoated as such.

Well, given that the NSA has been injecting vulnerabilities into hardware and encryption algorithms for decades...what exactly do you expect?

@ Those above who commented on my OP:

Tim Cook would prostitute Apple for any purpose if it meant more revenue. The guy has no moral compass.

There are many places apart from China that Apple could build its products such as India, the world's largest democracy.

If western companies moved their manufacturing away from China and we imposed tariffs on goods made in China, the Chinese economy would collapse and we wouldn't need them at all. It would also bring back jobs and prosperity to the US and Europe.

We only "need" the Chinese because we made it that way. Look what's happened to Russia when we decided to stand up to that little creep Putin and impose sanctions on his pathetic little dictatorship.

The Chinese present a clear and present danger to many countries around the world, not just the US and UK. It's only a matter of time before they invade Taiwan, then Japan. Where do you think North Korea get their nuclear weapons from? They don't get them from Walmart. The Chinese government give it to them so they can destabilise the whole region.

Except that Tim Cook clearly does have a moral compass as he's stood up for gay rights and privacy.

a) India is too corrupt.
b) India doesn't have the infrastructure.
c) India has a rather poor record on its minorities which is why something like 30% of the country is controlled by Maoists.

If western companies moved their manufacturing away from China and we imposed tariffs on goods made in China, the Chinese economy would collapse and we wouldn't need them at all.

And then the Chinese would sell all their US government debt bankrupting the United States.

It would also bring back jobs and prosperity to the US and Europe.

We have prosperity, it's all held by the rich.

We only "need" the Chinese because we made it that way. Look what's happened to Russia when we decided to stand up to that little creep Putin and impose sanctions on his pathetic little dictatorship.

a) Putin still rules Russia.
b) Russia's economy is far less sophisticated than China's.

a) They might well invade Taiwan, its true, but Taiwan doesn't really want to be fully independent either. Besides China will make Taiwan an SAR like Hong Kong and Macau.
b) Why would China decide to invade Japan now when Japan has only been conquered once in its history by outsiders, and that's by the Americans after World War 2?

Where do you think North Korea get their nuclear weapons from?

Pakistan actually.

Send Trump to negotiate. He will get better deal, China loves Trump. I know cuz he said so.

Well done. Nothing like countering allegations with logic.

Nope those decisions are purely business decisions. The general public has evolved to the point that any corporation that tramples on gay rights gets a hit to the wallet. The privacy issue also made Apple products more desirable. Now moving manufacturing to the US gets Apple a big whack on their profits. TC's 'morality' is pure business and nothing more.

Which bits of manufacturing do you think Apple should move?

We are substantially less draconian than China.

How do you know?

You mean besides your profile saying you're Canadian, and none of your other posts reading like Mickey Rooney in Breakfast at Tiffany's? Whatevs.

I have to say this is one of the most bizarre accusations I've read in a long while. And I've been reading a lot of internet today.

All under Mao. New regime post Mao is essentially different.

It's like blaming Merkel for Hitler.

Actually, it's the other way round. We got Merkel because of Hitler.

The current Chinese regime exists because of Mao and his thugs, and are of the same race. Do you really think that, if threatened by the masses, they wouldn't dare to repeat Tiananmen Square seven-fold?

What and kill seven thousand people? US soldiers killed more in Iraq...

And that's if the Chinese army would go along with it.

Iraq was a war - and "seven-fold", Biblically speaking, means "a hell of a lot".

The Chinese army would do what's best for the Chinese army, but you're free to believe otherwise.
