Does the ad explicitly say the sensor is 2.54cm ?
Sony themselves state 16.384 mm in diagonal.
Yeah, it's "technically" a 1-inch sensor. This type of measurement is a left-over from the tube sensors in the early days of TV. The size listed is the tube diameter, but the usable "rectangular" area in the middle is approx. 2/3 of that round area. So the sensor actually being about 16.3-16.8mm diagonal checks out.

Do some looking at the Xiaomi Ultra 15 -- it looks fantastic. I'd buy this in a heartbeat if there was a US model.

Apple (and to a lesser degree samsung) get away with they bare minimum they do exactly because phones like that are banned by the govt from being sold.

I was under the impression that only investment in the company by US investors was banned, and that was only for 5 months in 2021, when Trump banned it just before he left office and the next government rescinded the ban after a lawsuit.

Did Trump 2.0 put in some other ban that I missed?

Usually Xiaomi just don’t bother making phone models for North America.

so much misinformation and bias from people who never used Xiaomi or understand its execution with all this bs about strealing ip.

Apple invented the modern touch smart phone, everyone copies/steals it including android. But beyond that Xiaomi phones nowadays are far superior. I use the latest iPhone in US, and Xiaomi in China to make it easier since China has its own ecosystem. Its camera, photo editing, among many other features are way better. There is also nothing wrong with its quality, I am on my 2nd upgrade never an issue in the last 5 years over 2 phones.

But Xiaomi goes way beyond just phones they make everything from wash machines, fish tanks, electric screwdrivers, water bottles etc…hundreds of home products all well engineered based on good design. I have used many of them and find them way better than the US brands in term of usability, design, and look. Quality wise they work fine and don’t break just like most US products.

And don’t forget its ev, in just 3-4 years it went from zero experience making cars to make one of the most popular and well liked ev in China, the vertical manufacturing itself is an innovation. I have been in it many times, it’s truly amazing the way its software integrates with the car. I will buy it in a heartbeat over a Tesla if it’s on sale in US. Compare this to Apple - hundreds of billions wasted with nothing to show for it, where is the ip infringement.

So much bias and arrogance on this thread, just like Apple nowadays. That’s why we will keep falling behind further and further here. Keep your racism in check, go visit China - shenzhen / Shanghai etc.., goto one of Xiaomi stores, try their products, drive the evs, all at a fraction of the price. Gain some new perspective instead of living under a rock spewing the YouTube clickbaits.

it's mostly about using product names and images belonging to apple, it's illegal. Samsung and google both slam apple all the time but they never use product images like that
No it isn’t. And Apple has used images of actual competitor products in their ads before.

Unless you mean they literally used an Apple marketing image. That would probably be illegal. But I don’t think they did that.
