An Apple TV would be nice! An Apple Console with Camera/lidar, extra memory, extra graphics capability would be better. Great for playing Kinect style games, doing fitness, talking with friends and family, etc...

I'm not sure that's a great comp

The form factor was LOVED by folks .. but it was really held back by what Intel was able to offer for internals at the time.

Remember, that is nearly a decade ago now

It'd be amazing to see the kind of machine Apple could make for this form factor with their ASi chops

As a travel / ultra portable Mac, the 12" was untouched
Incredibly thin and tiny and capable ... despite the "meh" Intel guts at the time
Yes ironically those Intel chips in the old 12" Macbook were called 'Intel Core M3, M5, M7 etc', they were quite weak in performance but still ran Mac OS solidly. Now imagine Apple silicon like you said in them, its a whole different proposition. The base MBA pretty much now takes this spot in the lineup now in terms of price/performance.

What NOT to expect?
Tim Apple announcing, "I've run out of ideas on how to innovate and give the customers what they want...so I'm stepping down as CEO".

I'm going to be surprised if M4 MacBook Air's aren't unveiled as well. I have a work order in for an M3 MacBook Air that hasn't shipped for a week and it is "in stock" on the site. The delivery date has slipped 3 times now and the charge hasn't hit the credit card. This close to updates on Macs, it could be coincidence, but I'm leaning more towards there being updates. Guess we'll find out.
In Rome, Italy, all standard configs are available for pick-up today in each of the Apple stores.

Just looked on the site - the M2 air is labeled as "new" right now. I guess because m3 was recently added to the choices?

I wouldn't mind it jumping to M4. The surface pro laptop I bought super cheap years ago from my old office when it closed was barely useful when it was new. I wouldn't mind a fairly cheap spare laptop, especially if the M2 Airs drop in price following an m4 air announcement.

The update that I would like to see:

30 inch iMac with the same microprocessor and memory options as a MacBook Pro.

Still using my 27 inch iMac. The Mac Studio+Studio display is overpriced and is the wrong form factor. I left Dell because I liked Apple’s large screen all in one iMac.

By eliminating the large screen iMac Apple has killed my reason for buying a second computer.

If I am going to be stuck with a box and cables, I will just use my existing Macbook Pro 16 and have the same mess of cables as a Mac Mini or Mac studio.

For some a basic 24 inch iMac is fine. Unfortunately, Apple Silicon hasn’t been good to me.

People on here think that they will relaese the M6 before they started with M4...
Pretty much anyway 😉

Well, I'm good on all acounts myself. No Apple stuff that is tempting now.
My money goes elsewhere for awhile.

Would love to see the 12" Macbook come back, this would be absolutely ideal for base M chips like the M4. Will never happen though as Apple want people to buy the M4 iPP and MKB combo instead.

I liked my 12" too because it was so light. But the screen size was too small. So I got most of the time back to my 17" MBP and later to newer ones with 15 and 16".

The 13" MacBook Air is almost as small and light as the 12" MacBook had been, it's also fan-less and with a redesign it could be thinner and with less or no bezels at all also smaller than now. It has much more upgrade options and not only one port that wasn't even Thunderbolt.

Is the M4 iPad Pro with that expensive keyboard stand even lighter and smaller? Can't be much also there is no macOS and again only one port.

I never had a M1-M3 MBA or one of the newer iPads in my hands.

An iPad can never substitute a Mac for me. It's something completely different and I never liked it. I also never really liked any kind of touch devices like iPhones. I need a real keyboard with enough hub and feedback, a mouse and a real OS, that it's not annoying to use for me.

Not expecting to see any iPad announcements. Should only be iMac, Mac mini and MacBook Pro

What I don't understand is the Apple TV thing. I mean: the MacRomors Apple TV page still says "don't buy, updates soon". But then in the articles about what to expect and what not to expect, Apple TV isn't even mentioned. It's been displaying "updates soon" for a few months now, so when does the MacRumors staff actually expects updates then if not next week?
