Yes ironically those Intel chips in the old 12" Macbook were called 'Intel Core M3, M5, M7 etc', they were quite weak in performance but still ran Mac OS solidly. Now imagine Apple silicon like you said in them, its a whole different proposition. The base MBA pretty much now takes this spot in the lineup now in terms of price/performance.I'm not sure that's a great comp
The form factor was LOVED by folks .. but it was really held back by what Intel was able to offer for internals at the time.
Remember, that is nearly a decade ago now
It'd be amazing to see the kind of machine Apple could make for this form factor with their ASi chops
As a travel / ultra portable Mac, the 12" was untouched
Incredibly thin and tiny and capable ... despite the "meh" Intel guts at the time
Back in the day, an ounce was 20 pennyweights. Now, who knows!Right? They already announced announcements this week!
Also, an ounce meant something different in the past.
And have a MacBook Air with better performance than a MacBook Pro? Not happening. They should just skip the MacBook Air M4 and release an M5 Air in the Summer.
In Rome, Italy, all standard configs are available for pick-up today in each of the Apple stores.I'm going to be surprised if M4 MacBook Air's aren't unveiled as well. I have a work order in for an M3 MacBook Air that hasn't shipped for a week and it is "in stock" on the site. The delivery date has slipped 3 times now and the charge hasn't hit the credit card. This close to updates on Macs, it could be coincidence, but I'm leaning more towards there being updates. Guess we'll find out.
Just looked on the site - the M2 air is labeled as "new" right now. I guess because m3 was recently added to the choices?I'm going to be surprised if M4 MacBook Air's aren't unveiled as well. Presumably because the Mac Studio will be using the M4 Max and M4 Ultra, which are probably taking longer to develop than the M4 and M4 pro.Why not new Mac Studio ? It will be cool to have a new Mac every day of the week

No, MacRumors needs to make their headlines clearer (or stop with the clickbait altogether). No new Mac Mini?
Edit: What not to expect. I need more coffee.
Would love to see the 12" Macbook come back, this would be absolutely ideal for base M chips like the M4. Will never happen though as Apple want people to buy the M4 iPP and MKB combo instead.
