They developed it because they wanted a free app to try out scanning but there weren’t any non-subscription ones :)

I’d guess many Apple items would eventually ship with AirTags tech inside. :)
 
This year’s educational discount ends on Oct 12 with the current iPad Pro model back ordered. Looks to me that there will be a specification bump for a newer model of the iPad Pro.

I've tried my gf's Airpods Pro and the transparency option. They sound like I'm wearing hearing aids because it amplifies external audio in this weirdly "super real" way. Like they're trying too hard.
 
So, is anyone really excited or hyped for this event? I mean, all the specs and sizes of this year's iPhone were already leaked earlier this year. We know that the phones will have 5G, hence the phrasing "Hi, Speed." We know that there will be 4 phones announced. We also know that the much-rumored Apple Tags will also be announced. What else can Apple announce at this "iPhone-centric" event that might still be a surprise? Is there anything left that has been spoiled already?

I doubt it. Pretty sure that will be announced separately at another event in Nov, because it would make sense to give the new AS Macs as much time as possible instead of cramming it next to the iPhone and having it play second fiddle next to the cash cow....It just wouldn't make sense marketing-wise to have it announced at the same time as the iPhone.

I am very excited for the announcement and launch even though the specs were leaked. I’m ready to upgrade my XS Max!

Yes it will be annoying to preorder with the general public. My start time at work is clashing with the preorder start time.

It really is. I’m more excited for the iPhone 12 keynote and launch than the Watch S6 keynote and launch. Normally I upgrade my watch every 2 years but I’m skipping this year for my S4 and instead upgrade my XS Max.

I don't think it'll be a HUGE problem if you get a color other than the new midnight blue. Even though midnight blue is my favorite color, I'm just going to pre-order the black one as I have been for the past 3 years.

Blue is my favorite color as well and I too have decided to order a non-popular color like Silver this year. My XS Max is gold and I want to change the color for this year’s iPhone.
 
This digital-only events really have be baffled..

When they talk 'speed' are they referring to the internet or 5G ? (or perhaps both). Either way, it's good.

Why would Apple announce a slower iphone ?

If it would actually be a brighter blue and not look black/dark gray like my MG 11PM, I will take the hit on taking a chance or slipping into backorder heck. Otherwise it is silver again. Maybe Red if it is out right away

Blue is my favorite also. I was SO tempted to buy the blue Apple Watch, but didn't only because the blue wouldn't go with all my outfits and occasions like my silver stainless steel does.

I'd say there's no chance of Touch ID with these new phones and little chance for next year's iPhones, unless that was already planned pre-covid. I imagine plans for the 2021 iPhones were probably already largely decided 6 months ago and mask wearing was not common in March/April. That said, I'd be extremely disappointed if Touch ID is not added in 2022.
