Low-key, it’s kinda a fascinating social experiment, though. There’s definitely gonna be hella people in Berlin who are exactly looking for that vibe—a spot where everyone can pull up, connect, meet new folks, and catch some fresh creative energy. So honestly, that’s a W. The dirks who spend all day in here doing deep-dive TED Talks about the ultra-specific lore of their own lives can take that energy to the bathroom line over there instead. At least then they’re not clogging up the feed and testing everybody’s patience. 😅

Bringing an iOS app to macOS can be as simple as checking a box and letting the tool do the rest. Just as an example, web.de does this the exact same way in your country. If you're a developer, you know that ...

A dedicated macOS app is a bit different as it has UI controls that don't exist in iOS.

Apple today announced it will open Europe's first Apple Developer Center in Berlin later this year.

The facility joins existing Developer Centers in Bengaluru, Cupertino, Shanghai, and Singapore. Apple said the Berlin center, located in Mitte district, will offer developers throughout Europe in-person sessions, workshops, and one-on-one appointments in multiple languages, with consultation areas and dedicated labs staffed by Apple experts. Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations, Susan Prescott, said:

The center will host a regular cadence of events covering iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, visionOS, and watchOS development, aimed at teams of all sizes and at every stage of app development. Apple said the programming is intended to help developers improve the design, quality, and performance of their apps.

Apple noted that storefronts across Europe saw more than 150 million average weekly users in 2025, and that eligible developers can access the App Store Small Business Program, which offers a reduced 15% commission rate for small and individual developers.

The announcement builds on Apple's existing developer investments in Europe, which include the Swift Student Challenge, 19 Apple Developer Academies worldwide, and Apple Foundation Programs in Italy and France. The company pointed out that developers also have access to more than 250,000 APIs across frameworks including HealthKit, Metal, Core ML, MapKit, and SwiftUI.

So beautiful! Those frilly curtains in the background look a little out of place though. Maybe the architectural intent was to leave them open but later realized it overpowering on screen presentations. Some property manager might’ve needed up making the decision rather than the designers. I feel like clean sheet blinds like they have in stores would make more sense here.

You're aware that this is just a render and does not exist in reality yet?

It seems quite odd that no company in Europe has ever provided its developers with a center in which to work. It borders on completely unbelievable and incredible. Is Europe really that far behind the rest of the world?

Developers in Europe usually have their own nice offices. Why would they need something like that?

(or is my irony detector broken?)

Why would developers need a developer center? All of Apple's frameworks and how they are to be used are documented online. As a developer, you read the manual.

How often does a developer need a one on one appointment with a developer from Apple, I wonder. There used to be lab/one-on-one sessions at WWDC where developers could book a spot if they were stuck. Heard plenty of devs who had a session and came back without a solution. Because these Apple experts may have "expert" in their title but they don't know everything.
