Apple Announces 'Far Out' September 7 Event Set to Feature iPhone 14, Apple Watch Series 8 and More

Hmmm... I wonder when the iPhone 14 Plus will ship. I just got a notice from my Amex:

"Effective October 12, 2022... We are adding a Mobile Device Insurance benefit to your card.

If your mobile device is accidentally damaged, you will be reimbursed the lesser of its repair cost or replacement cost, not exceeding the depreciated value... less a 10% deductible, to a maximum of $1000 per insured person."

The depreciation calculation is 2% per month or 24% per year, so that's reasonable.

"More important" is in the eye of the beholder. The iPhone accounts for a vastly larger part of Apple's business than any Mac does at this point (and I say this as a huge fan of the Mac).

I'm actually kind of surprised they would do it just two days after Labor Day in 2022. Normally, the announcement would be circa one week after Labor Day.

The rumour from Ming-Chi Kuo is that the iPhone 14 Plus will ship later. I may just order after Oct. 12 just to be safe. She doesn't need the phone until December anyway.

I just reread the rumour and I'm wrong. It states the larger panels are in short supply but doesn't actually say it will ship later. So you may right that it will ship in more limited quantity. However, since this would be an Xmas gift, I could order in October for December delivery. Hopefully.

It's in person. Apple gave enough time to book travel, booking a flight, hotels, rental vehicle and so on. That's another reason why I love in-person events.
