It’s a sad day when a headline feature is ‘pets album in folders’. Big fuss over multiple timers…

The leakers got it all wrong. Very disappointed with this update. The most requested suggestions turned down.

Sideloading where? Perhaps not advertised on WWDC because it's EU only feature, so US market don't get jealous?

Shared passwords is really useful.
Not so much when someone can steal your iPhone, change your deets / access your life with just the passcode & can now also access others' deets that have been shared. Sure I could use a password manager but for the majority, disappointed to see that this hasn't been recognised nor dealt with effectively.

So wait, is it clear whether Standby will only work when the phone is charging, or will it work if the phone is just sitting horizontally?

Will Standby work when an iPhone is connected to CarPlay? I have a Magsafe dash mount and it would be really awesome if I could use the Standby now playing screen in conjunction with CarPlay (I could have Maps on CarPlay and the now playing screen on my iPhone screen).

Looks like the leaks were way wrong. No customizable control center, no wallet improvemnets. We just got better sharing, a journal app, improved keyboard, and standby mode? Very disapointing update.
The bump sharing, standby mode, and improved keyboard are features that will get used all the time. I also really like the profile cards. Considering how much development is being done on visionOS right now, I think this is a pretty nice update, considering it’s free and all

edit: Also the shareplay in the car feature? Super cool. I was so sick of handing my phone to people while driving so they could put music on, since you can’t connect new bluetooth devices while driving. I hope it works well!

So this isn’t a Snow Leopard-like update that will focus on bug fixes, performance, and stability?

iOS 16 is the buggiest iOS release ever, even now with the latest version, 16.5. I think I’ll pass on iOS 17 until it reaches it’s final version next year, around September 2024, shortly before iOS 18 is released.

iOS 17 is a minor version.. nothing special, don’t understand the justification for iPhone 8/8plus/X drop.

Nothing about getting rid of the damn green bubbles. Is there a sticker for being an obstinate tool bag and not improving Android texting?
Are you really that perturbed over the fact that Apple doesn’t really care for Google’s iteration of their idea?

I’m not an Android fan, but who cares.

Green peeps on my phone aren’t that close to me anyway.

Yeah, it seems quite odd especially when the 6S was given the crazy run it had. No major UX features that warrants the device drop.

tired of those grimmick things of personalisation, e.g. contact card, personal voice, etc, and those cosmetic improvement like customised lock screen, making emoji. while they put effort in making contact card, why didn't they upgrade the old contact app, in particular improving its integration with other native apps, like making it to support POI in addr fields, so that contact with POI typed addr could be located on apple map?

there are some nice tweak to improve productivities, transcription of voice msg in both phone and imessage.

so far, a bit disappointed not to hear many updates on Map, Photo and Calendar apps which i use mostly in daily life.

some may be excited about the new upcoming journal app. however, i am skeptical how far it is diff from the little nice Note app, and why didn't they make it as a feature upgrade to Note app.
