Personally, I like what they announced just fine. Yes quite a few of the features have been available on jail broke devices for some time. The thing is, I don't want to jailbreak my device. Some people want to jailbreak their devices and that's cool, I'm just not one of them.
A jailbroken device enjoys a constant flow of new ideas 365 days a year. There are some really talented developers and wonderful ideas seeded in the jailbreak community. The jailbreak developers rock and ultimately it's great for the iOS platform.
Apple on the other hand, updates iOS once a year, so it stands to reason that the rest of us are getting some of these nice features a bit later. If a new feature get's developed within Apple, it needs to wait until the next iOS release and that can be year later.
That said, for me personally, there is not a killer app or killer feature for me to feel as though I simply must jailbreak my device, so I'm fine with waiting for the iOS updates. In most cases (but not all) I prefer Apple's refined implementation anyway.
As far as not supporting older devices, like the iPad 1, I understand your frustration, however that's never been an issue for me. I always have a line up of people asking me if they can buy my 3 year old 27 inch iMac or 2 year old iPhone. I can easily sell the device for a good resale price, invest a little more money and have the latest tech again. It's never been a problem for me. I rotate my main workstation every 3 years and could probably update every 2 years if I wanted to. I already have 3 people wanting to buy my iPhone 4S if I want to move to the iPhone 5 in the fall.
Apple's gear really holds it's value for resale. See how much you can get for a 1 year old Nokia Android phone? Oddly enough all 3 people that want my iPhone 4S are dumping their Androids.
I have an iPad 2, that I'll likely keep until the next flavour of iPad is released. My iPad 2 does everything that I need it to.
In short, while I don't choose to jailbreak my devices, I support the jailbreak communities efforts, new ideas are great for everyone.
If Android is to your liking, go use it. Be happy.
